I love Prince Charles. My wife hates him, which is why Im expressing my point of view while she is out taking my daughter to Karate lessons and I am suppose to be mowing the lawn.
I suppose Charles has not mowed any lawns of late, and I hold no grudge for that. Personally, I love mowing and gardening (Ive heard tell the Prince also loves to get into the garden), but this was my chance to take a peek at some of the CNN coverage of the wedding. I think I should get right to the point, for those who try to poke fun at the looks of Camilla Parker Bowles, I say its envy and I say she is one fine looking lady for any woman of her same age, and she is personable and I dont care what her background is or was, she carries a royal decorum of a mannered and elegant female I congratulate the Prince on such a fine choice. For those of my conservative brothers who criticize the Prince in such vulgar manner to point out his ears, I should only point out President Bushs ears, or face for that manner, in conjunction with What Me Worry? and remind those that as many and much more say the Prince is a handsome man and I would agree. By the way, I am a conservative, a nationalist, but not a Bushie, yet I want to assure that I find my President is also a handsome man and a moral man.
The royalty is in a sense also the head of the church, and the medieval moralists have warned us against envy as one of the seven deadly sins. We hear a lot of sins lately, and of the need to confess sins to consummate this marriage but let me speak on one of the seven deadly sins called envy.
For those of you who are envious of the Prince, of this wedding, and his Lady, I say that your envy is sin, and it is not enough to avoid envy but you must learn to appreciate others achievements and rejoice in their success and good fortune. I rejoice in the achievements of this Prince, and in his good fortune, I feel this marriage of love will bring him good times to the end.
Opps! My wife is back! Ive got to go
So, the end to all this Prince bashing.
The wedding is Swan Lake, not only as theatre but in goodness and elegance. Prince Charles, I wish you good joy on this day, congratulations on your marriage to such a Lady, and best wishes from America! I know youre actually of French blood, but I dont hold that against you, and I always admired a good Norman.
BTW Where is Brit Hume? He did not cover the events in Windsor and more surprisingly he was not part of the team covering the death of the Pope
Not just a slut. A truly dumb slut.
My English-born wife and her still-living-in-England sister both detest both Prince Chuckie and the Duchess of Frump. I don't have a horse in this race, but both women despise the way the Royal family treated Princess Di.
I see no reason why not.
Prince Philip used to be the president of the Federation Equestre Internationale, the body that governs the most important horse competitions. As such, he came to Kentucky to view the World Three-Day Event Championships, which were held at the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington.
The weather was amazingly hot and humid and the crowds were very dense. In order to get an unobstructed view of horses on the tough cross-country course, I walked well out onto the course and found a tree-shaded little hut next to a water jump. I was there with only three or four other spectators.
We had been watching the competition for awhile when a large white vehicle drove up and disgorged several large serious men. They displayed no interest whatever in the beautiful spectacle of the jumping horses but looked very carefully at us, the spectators. Then they courteously moved me away from the hut where I had been sitting.
Within a minute Philip then got out of the vehicle and came to sit down in the hut. He watched the horses, one by one, take the water jump.
But one horse did not make it. He clipped the top rail of the fence hard and fell. His rider, a woman, fell with him. She went under the (rather shallow) water and we didn't see her again. It was clear that the horse had pinned her beneath the surface.
Philip's security men could see that a tragedy was happening before their eyes but they were clearly hesitant to leave the man who was their charge. Happily the prince had no such constraints on his behavior. He darted out of the hut, ran past the security men who tried ineffectually to stop him, and in his exquisite white suit went into the water. He dragged the horse away from the rider and pulled her up. Without his help she would have drowned. None of the rest of us spectator-ladies had the strength to move such a large horse.
We have an hereditary monarchy, not one run along the lines of a 'reality' tv show.
Charles is human like the rest of us and frankly I think he'll make a perfectly good King. He's no worse than some of the past incumbents of the last 1500 years.
I also understand he served in one of the toughest outfits in the British military although I don't recall what it was off hand.
Prince Phillip, is that the Queens husband, or one of Charles' names?
Royalty in the 21st century; the effete residue of antique tyranny
Will England accept Camilla as their Queen?
All they did was concentrate on the negative. If I ever get married I will Not let E.D Hill cover my marriage ...
And the doofus was cheating on this.
Frankly I don't know. (BTW that's Britain rather than just England)
I would, even though 'Queen Camilla' sounds a bit odd. Traditionally, the wife of the King is the Queen, whatever the circumstance.
I am tired of having massive news coverage on The Royals for every minor incident. I dont even care to have it for great momentous occasions like weddings. Why not just a 5 second blurb and get on with the rest of the news? How many people really want to watch a Royal Wedding, or care who the Prince marries?
I dont care for the massive coverage of the Jackson trial or of any other media event du jur that has no real relevance to our lives.
Not really.
Correct me if I'm mistaken but, isn't William the son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana? Wouldn't that make him hereditary?
Isn't to Monarchy acting like a reality tv show?
Good luck and every happiness to Charles and Camilla.
Well, yes: but it generally happens in order of birth. You know. Father first, then son.
Isn't to Monarchy acting like a reality tv show?
No.
Shame on you for making so much sense. Calling your old girlfriend the night before the wedding and then inviting her to the wedding behind the back of your future wife sounds very unfaithful to me.
