Democrats going nuclear to violate the Constitution
email | Apr 7, 2005 | Harry Reid

Posted on 04/08/2005 11:48:42 PM PDT by FraudFactor.com

Email from Democrat Harry Reed follows. This appears to contain extreme hate speech and bigoted ad homonym attacks.

Dear supporter,

Today I stood in front of the Supreme Court and collected more than 1 million petitions from people all across America. Standing there, I heard your voices urging the Senate to reject any attempt to do away with the system of checks and balances our founding fathers created to protect the rights and voices of all Americans.

I want to say thank you for standing up and lending your voice to this debate.

Republicans want to go "nuclear" and turn the Senate into a rubber stamp for President Bush. They want to silence Senate Democrats -- the one remaining check on President Bush's power. If they can do away with debate in the Senate, they can get whatever they want -- right-wing Supreme Court Justices, Social Security privatization, and tax breaks for the wealthy that will plunge us deeper in debt.

But Senate Democrats are going to fight them every step of the way. And this fight will be different than any other fight in the history of the Senate -- because it will include you.

The Republicans are arrogant with power. If they don't like the rules, they break them. If they don't like someone standing in their way, they attack them. We have some Republicans in the Senate that are considering throwing out 200 years of Senate history in order to pack the courts with right wing judges. And we have a Republican Leader in the House of Representatives who attacks judges who don't agree with him and corrupts our government by running roughshod over the ethics committee.

It's a complete abuse of power by the Republicans and if they can get away with this on judges, they will get away with this on legislation like Social Security too. There is no distinction.

This is about more than a few unqualified judges, this is about protecting the rights of disabled Americans to work, the rights of minorities to vote, the rights of every American to have clean air, safe drinking water and be heard in Washington.

Thank you,

Harry Reid

The Socialist Democrats are going nuclear against the Constitution while acusing the Republicans of going nuclear. They're at it again.

They think it's okay to use this type of bigoted hate speech and denigration, but don't you dare use the phrase "jack booted thugs" when you quote the Democrat member of congress who used that term in defense of self-defense rights.

Anyone care to critique this hateful Democrat mass email and provide some corrections? Go at it.

Where are all the "investigative journalists" when you need them? Why aren't they exposing and criticizing this and the many similar hateful Democrat propoganda pieces for what they are? Oh, yes, they must be busy working on opposition research against President Bush and other Republicans, just as when the Los Angeles Times sent an opposition research team to Texas to try to dig up dirt on President Bush before the election, as another contribution to the Democrats.

Harry Reid, over the top and in serious need of a psychological examination, with a colonoscopy to follow.

Actually, both can be performed at the same time....

I guess this examination would explain why we are receiving such assinine comments from those such as Reid.

"this is about protecting the rights of disabled Americans"

Funny .. I don't recall that being much of a priority when the courts sentenced an innocent disabled woman to death ..??

If these liberals just sit down and read the constitution, the constitution spells out when the supermajority votes may be employed and filibuster is not one of them.

The liberals are resorting the use of Jimmy Stewart's movie to spin the use of filibuster, but they know they will fail because if they do, they have to revise the constitution.

The ability to filibuster is based on a Senate Rule, I believe, Rule XXII,and these liberals are using it as if it is in the constitution.

As I can see it, you have these socialist papers who would publish as if filibuster is in the constitution without checking how the constitution is worded. And shame on them too.

These socialists in congress are really worried that their number will dwindle down come the next election.

Harry doesn't need a colonoscopy, he looks the same on the inside as he does on the outside. As with most of the Democraps in the Congress, they should be FLUSHED from office in the next election. That is the only thing that will purge this stench from the Capital!

Oh, to be back in the classroom. When I was an adjunct instructor of political science, I used to give an open-book test on the Constitution. In addition to asking the students to find things that were in the Constitution, (i.e, the right to keep and bear arms, the equal protection clause, etc.), I also asked them a trick question about where the term "separation of church and state" was. If I were giving this test today, I would have to ask about the filibuster as well.
