MORE... Finkelstein said in a brief interview that he had married his partner of 40 years to ensure couple had same benefits available to married heterosexual couples... . . . but the fact that he granted the NY Times an interview to tell his story, tells me he is out to hurt the GOP. Developing..........Not necessarily. A pol like that--a real pro--would understand that if the story is getting out, he'd might as well put it out there himself, get in front of the story, and tell it his way.

To: Petronski; All
he may be putting the story ahead but it is most likely because his career is dead and this will let him be a rino celebrity for the homosexual groups.
To: longtermmemmory
I agree, that would be the more likely scenario.

It's reminiscent of what
Danforth has been saying. I don't agree with it; in fact I think it is very stupid for Republicans to be cursing their luck. I accept that plenty of conservatives aren't quite on board with the strain of politics that energizes the moral values people, with the underlying philosophy. I think that this rift will pass over.
In the meantime, someone tell them to stop burning bridges. But I think it would be a mistake to call for a purge of Danforths and Finkelsteins.

What has Danforth been saying? And which Danforth?

he gay Republicans I've known care about a lot more than prancing around in crazy outfits shrieking about gay marriage and trying to make it a bigger issue than terrorism, economic policies, etc. Otherwise, they would be libs!Amen Brother, Amen. Ones sexual desires is not high on my agenda, social, political leanings are.

Many articles I've found on him refer to him as being gay,
so it wasn't a big secret.
I think he went to the Times because
he is hopping on the anti-Bush, anti-christian right bandwagon.
See post 49.

I met my ex-girlfriend one night in October 2000 when I was wearing a giant campaign button that said proudly "I LIKE BUSH."

I'll follow the 11th Commandment after primaries. During a primary, though, it's toe-to-toe and blood for blood.

Thanks for the correction.

Personally, I have no freakin' problem with this old closeted gay man having a civil union with his "partner". That's his business. What I do object to is the ritualistic bashing of the "Christians" when doing an interview with the
Times to establish his
bona fides with the MSM and the Chattering Class. It's like having to go to Pamplona to run with the bulls so you can say that you too can write Muscular Prose just like Hemingway did.
What crap.

Chris
