President Bush and the First Lady attended the "majestic" funeral for Pope John Paul II today in Rome. The President and the First Lady, as well as, Poppy Bush are heading for the Ranch as I'm typing this. The President spoke to the Press Pool on the way back from Rome.. It is a must read, I will post a link to the interview
What age is third or fourth grade?
That's a relief....Sure am glad to have them back in the USA....Did they mention where they sent WJC to on the other plane?
They are folded! Good maybe he did slight Kofi and deservedly so. I feel the man is evil, self-serving. I wish that the Senate would expadite the approval of Bush's appointees and stop cowtowing to the Dems. Bolton would be a breath of fresh air at the UN.
The "House a Pooh Corner" is actually a group of short stories....Any of the Pooh books are usually enjoyed...and they fun to read with different voice characteristics. Pooh with a low, Piglet high and Eeyore nasal....etc. She could help you read some of it.
The last three all contain the same characters...the cat is convinced that the pet bunny is a vampire sucking the juices out of vegetables...heheh. Very harmless and funny.
I am trying to think of some more. It has been a long time since my children were in that age group, and my grandson is reading higher level books now. I will send you a note if I think of any additional.
The original "Boxcar" book was my favorite in second grade.
Has homemom posted lately? I have been missing her.
Dad Bush, the President and First Lady, and a few reporters went on to Crawford.
Bunnicula is a good book! Also if you want to try historical fiction "The Cabin Faces West" and "Across Five Aprils" are good. The cabin book is about a little girl who lives in America and meets George Washington the President and what life was like in that time period. Across Five Aprils is about a family in Virginia that is torn apart by the civil war with brother fighting brother. But it is seen through the eyes of a 10 yr. old.
Well it used to happen that way here, in a way, but then the Democratic party got their undies in a wad because they were out of power and they have made life unbearable ever since. :) Actually they are changing rules and the Republicans are rolling over and letting it happen. Frustrating.
It used to be no big deal to do this, but since the democrats have polarized the Congress and since the Senators all covet face time on television, the hearings have turned, in many cases, into mini-inquisitions, if not outright circuses.
I must say I am looking forward to Bolton's confirmation hearing. His prior public comments about the UN have the liberals frothing at the mouth. He doesn't back down, so the hearings should be quite entertaining.
It is more telling/insulting that "W" is not even looking in the direction of the slightee....Eye contact or lack there of tells alot.
Mine too. I also loved the Ramona books and the Nancy Drew books.
You explained that much better. Thanks. :) I too can't wait for his hearings. I hope he will say exactly what he's thinking. :)
Yes, that is true. I imagine Kofi is as unbearable as Jaques. It must be difficult to have to deal with the snakes in the grass types.
My father bought me the LANDMARK history/novels as a child....Really didn't read a lot of other story books, but did enjoy them as well as the "Little House" books. A Hoosier book, "The Bear of Blue RIver" is also a favorite.
I'm also partial to the Hoosier author that wrote "Freckles" and "Girl of the Limberlost"...name slips me at the present.
Children enter third grade at about age eight where I live. So, things in the eight-nine-ten range would be good. But books for a bit older group would also work because I explain concepts as we go if they're over her experience level, and I'm the one doing the reading so she wouldn't be struggling with hard words.
