Maybe that's what the poster meant. have the hospice put down as beneficiary.

Something is up with this whole hospice thing. They are sending non-terminal patients to hospice to die.

WND

"Also upon Gaddy's request and without prior legal authority, since March 28 Hospice-LaGrange has denied Magouirk normal nourishment or fluids via a feeding tube through her nose or fluids via an IV."

[Request for a feeding tube was denied. "Tube yanked" is still a great headline idea, cleared up immediately in the article. It was essentially yanked. So I'm kool with it, at least.]

Next, maybe we can draw upon someone's medical knowledge.

Supercat, we could really benefit from your medical knowledge.

I'm just a layman, so I want to know if I have this about right, and I'm also curious about your thoughts.

A feeding tube through the nose is, as I understand it, a supplimental form of nourishment. Full nourishment normally is sent through a tube through the mouth. She is conscious enough to eat, as I understand it. She would not even qualify for a hospice if she were given a feeding tube through the nose.

What's your take?

' The dehydration is being done in defiance of Magouirk's specific wishes, which she set down in a "living will," '
WND.

I'd read something else about the power of attorney. BRB....

Gag alert on this link. It's a discussion thread dissing us, the Free Republic. The initial writer does explain the skeptical view very well. It does not factor in state-of-the-art medicine, however:

Costing less, or not, why are people placed in "hospice" rather than in an extended care facility which most likely does not have the going-there-to-die aura about it? Why weren't the other family members informed?

What good does a WILL do if a d***** judge thinks he/she can overrule it? What, if anything, does Hillary-type care have to do with this? Who invests in these "hospices?"

Apparently the granddaughter wants the $$$$ sooner rather than later.

It's not her grandson, it's her nephew. His mom & Mae are sisters.

Insurance companies benefit from them, huh?

I'll be! It's against FR policy to side with death.

Interesting....

A local paper reports on Terri 2.

"...A living will states that nourishment should be withheld only if she were in a coma or vegetative state with no hope of recovery..."

There you go. Looks like this is wrongful at first glance of this article.

I have no problem with life being defended. I have raised funds (volunteer basis) for pro-life groups. I have written letters and newspaper columns that has supported life. And as for the current thread, I support this woman not being killed off against her living will.

But I don't support a blind "life at all costs" stance when it's against a person's rights. I don't support stopping capital punishment. I don't support pacificism.

Now, can you explain why you are so against me asking for facts, not unsupported and unsupportable claims?
