Well Earl Warren of the Warren court was a republican appointed by Dwight Eisenhower.
Late in life Eisenhower said the biggest disappointment of his presidency was how Earl Warren turned out.
In today's Being a Suprreme court member is as close as anyone can come to being a dictator. It is so hard to determine what a person will do when given that kind of power. The huge power of the Supreme court changes many people. They say power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Absolute power is what the Supreme court has.
I am amazed that we even have one justice that wants to limit his own power.
Any report on how the day went?
I am with you on this:
we can start putting pressure on these clowns. However, when such pressure evokes some of the rather vile sentiments thrown about these threads, I ain't gonna ride that pony. Pressure, yes. War on the judiciary? That's not even a joke. Marshall settled judicial review a long time ago. Levin can damn him and it all day long, but he can't change it. Listen to Scalia instead.
Yeah, I was looking foreward to pictures by now. There's not even an after action report on file. ??? ???
Strange, isn't it?
Excellent!
Just perfect!
This amply illustrates the importance of the President's next pick(s) for the Supreme Court - let us all pray he does a better job of it than Ronald Reagan and Geo. H.W. Bush did with justices O'Connor, Kennedy, and Souter - three of the biggest disgraces to their nominators who have ever soiled the bench!
bttt
BTTT!
Outstanding speech.
I'm flattered. Thanks.
LOL! Stupid question, did they play darts back then?
Excellent speech, sir. We are proud to have you as a fellow Freeper.
I'm hoping that there will be an after-action report. I'd love to see some photos!
Fantastic piece, Congressman.
The judiciary, on the contrary, has no influence over either the sword or the purse; no direction either of the strength or of the wealth of the society; and can take no active resolution whatever. It may truly be said to have neither FORCE nor WILL, but merely judgment....
I long for the days of the former being reality as I question the court's capacity in the latter.
Keep fighting the good fight!
BTTT. Excellent!
This has got to be THE PROUDEST MOMENT yet, for me as a FReeper. I am over flowing with tears of joy, knowing we are so well represented in D.C. - and that where I cannot stand - others are.
ALL of my prayers are with you - and rest assured - this will post to EVERY BOARD I can get it to.
To God be the Glory, Great Things He Hath Done...
And He has given US a voice - let the bells of TRUTH ring LOUD and CLEAR - make no MISTAKE - WE MEAN BUSINESS!!!
GO FReepers!!! Love to all, JK
PING!! and post it and sing it to the MOUNTAINS!!!!
THE FReepers are in D.C.!!!
Praise God! JK
I took a bunch of pictures when I was there, and will post them tomorrow. I don't know the technology, and Mr. SoVa isn't available until tomorrow afternoon.
Got some good ones though.
And another historical oddity: Sam Adams' brewery went bankrupt.
