SCUD like missles in Morro Castle, Havana Cuba aimed north
The Real Cuba ^

These unauthorized photos were taken by a tourist who, as he said in his e-mail to us, "sneaked out of the tourist area while visiting the Morro fortress" in Havana, Are these missiles operational? He says that he is 100% positive that they are. "They are behind the back wall. There is a military base there, as I saw jeeps approaching, I got the hell out of there pronto. It is a huge crime to photo things like that," he said. Maybe someone who is familiar with these type of missiles can identify them for us and provide information as to their range.

The big one looks like a surface to surface missile on a transporter. It does not look like the transporter would be capable of erecting the missile for launch.

The smaller missile appears to be a surface to air missile, based on the generally smaller size and the canard fins. You would expect to see air defense missiles around a surface to surface missile installation.

I will google around to see if I can find a good match for the big fella.

I just called the White House and President Kennedy told me he'd have a U2 in the air within minutes. Thanks for the head's up.

I was thinking the same thing. The manicured grass under the missiles and lack of support equipment tells me this is not a hot missile site.

The Maryland that is envisioned by our "representatives" in Annapolis. < /sarcasm>

Yes our Satellites would see that in a heartbeat. They've probably been there for years. Besides that pipe can be fashioned to look like a missile. Counter intel at work there. Much like the Serbians drawing outlines of tanks on the ground for our stealth bombers to bomb from 15k feet.

That kind of what I was thinking, too. The lawn is manicured nicely for a weapons area and the buildings behind don't look like weapons igloos.

I know of several small town around this area where there are various artillery pieces pointed in all different directions. As far as I know none of these towns have declared war on their neighbors.

Yeah, but probably not that close, if ready to launch. The SAM missile would risk damaging the SSM.

SS25 based on fins? I thought those were a lot bigger.

The big one looks like a Soviet SS-4, which was the missile involved in the Cuban Missile Crisis of the early 60s. So a museum display seems to be the most likely explaination. A working SS-4 would seem unlikely.

The transporter is a good match as well.
