FreeRepublic Pledges (Vanity)
TheHound

Why do these pledge periods have to take so long? For a measly $66,000, I would think the pledge period would only last about a week. If everyone who used this cite for longer, in a year, than they do reading a magazine subsciption, pledged the price of a magazine subscription, I believe the pledge amount would be met in about two days. I certainly hope the day never comes when I have to see "Cialis" ads blinking on the right side of the FR page so they can pay for bandwidth!

It could be the pictures of David Cassidy on your FReeper page driving them away! lol just kidding! I must admit I use to watch that show and I hated Danny the little runt.
I think people are just lurking now, trying to stay out of the fire until it cools down to their liking again. I did this Alexa graph and FreeRepublic.com's traffic rating is up. The funny thing I noticed though was the correlation between the DU'er site and this one. Call me crazy but the graph shows a lot of the same waves. Were they coming here in mass to disrupt? who knows but I found it interesting anyway.
I will donate as soon as I pay some bills.

If you have read this thread, you'll see I am not 'walking'.
I have told others before, if I ever decide to leave, there will be no opus. It's a little drama-queeny for me.
Gramma, I think your heart is in the right place, and I hope you don't think I am slamming you by posting my comments here.
Regards,
CD

Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But names will never hurt me. That may very well be true, but I really don't see why anyone should be expected to pay for the privilege of being insulted.

- and his illness and death got far less attention here than did the situation in Florida. And the Terri threads were even drug onto those. Amazing.

but I was definitely not happy about the number of threads about the Shiavo case. Honest question here.
I hate dupes and silly vanities. But, were you unhappy on the number of threads off 9/11, if you were here then? My point is that the Terri story is just as important for the survival of our Republic as was that day.

I know you're not walking...I caught that right away.
I just think it's time for EVERYONE to come together again. We're ALWAYS going to have differences, but if we let every little thing tear us apart, the libs win.
Think long and hard on that, everyone.

I think that's due to major issues. They get their partisans who are occasional posters to site.
I think there's also a little too much paranoia about DU'ers, much that that idiotic Moby paranoia last year.

True, but shouldn't one be expected to pay if he uses a site that costs money to run?

You ain't alone on this - besides the opusers, I personally know of several longtime freepers who have privately expressed their dismay over recent events. And there's me.

The entire situation is troubling.
I have no intention of bailing, but I have actually finding it easier to turn off the computer and go do things like laundry or dishes or now that the weather is finally behaving going outside for yardwork. Or even play silly online games - which I am now going back to doing before making my date with my pillow.
Good night, my dear FRiend. Regards to your wife and family.
