Why do these pledge periods have to take so long? For a measly $66,000, I would think the pledge period would only last about a week. If everyone who used this cite for longer, in a year, than they do reading a magazine subsciption, pledged the price of a magazine subscription, I believe the pledge amount would be met in about two days. I certainly hope the day never comes when I have to see "Cialis" ads blinking on the right side of the FR page so they can pay for bandwidth!
Bump for later tonight.
Rock'n'roll, my friend ;)
If you're not banned before that someone shows up. ;)
Well, that would itself constitute an answer of sorts, wouldn't it? ;)
This may help:
Oh, indeed it would!
All the extra money is being sent to me, so I can work on putting together FR's "swimsuit" edition. It's a hard, demanding task, but I don't mind, because it's for a good cause. This was supposed to be a secret, but now you know.
I shoulda known ;)
You will be waiting a very long time.
That will also constitute an answer of sorts, I think ;)
Something akin to taking the 5th.
Let's hope not...
I told you I am tired of this nonsense every time we have a fund drive. There are people all over that continually harp about JR and the funds of this site and it is a shame.
Many of these people post on LP and every fund raiser they cast aspersions about the owner here. So this has a purpose if it is coming from a long time member.
If you want to go ahead with it fine with me - I resent it as petty and not very complimentary to the owner of the site.
And I read enough of general's comments throughout this thread to know that he "discusses it and discusses it" never receiving an answer that satisfies him to drop it.
Although he may put a disclaimer in the bottom of his numerous postings on the matter - he is still throwing this question out there and he knows the answers because he has been here year after year. And, he knows full well why he is doing it.
Frankly - I will no longer read his posts and will let others come to the defense of Jim because it is a total waste of my FR time.
Absolutely false.
And, he knows full well why he is doing it.
To get an answer. Which it appears I'm not going to get this time around. No problem - it's only a few short months until the next fundraiser, and we'll just have to have a look at the numbers then, won't we? Yes, I think we will.
Now just a danged minute!
I've said, more than once, that I don't care what JimRob does with my contributions, and that I expect him and John to pay themselves reasonably well for their efforts.
I'm reconsidering, though. Next time, I may specify that my four bits goes toward hiring you an assistant. After all, it's a "hard, demanding task" you've assumed, and you shouldn't have to go it alone.
BTW, Mr. Henry, I'm still looking for interesting employment, and don't mind if it's hard and demanding or doesn't pay too well...
More seriously, I don't know of anyone who doesn't think JR is entitled to support himself from this - I've no doubt it's a full time job, and he, like all of us, has to eat and keep the lights on and so forth. Speaking for myself, however, I think what I'm interested in seeing is a balance sheet that, well, balances. That's it. I don't think that's too much to give to contributors, do you?
I could use some help with last-minute adjustments. It's not easy making sure all those bikinis fit just right. Very demanding work, and the girls are always squirming around. Are you sure you're interested?
