FreeRepublic Pledges (Vanity)
TheHound

Posted on 04/06/2005 6:50:29 PM PDT by TheHound

Why do these pledge periods have to take so long? For a measly $66,000, I would think the pledge period would only last about a week. If everyone who used this cite for longer, in a year, than they do reading a magazine subsciption, pledged the price of a magazine subscription, I believe the pledge amount would be met in about two days. I certainly hope the day never comes when I have to see "Cialis" ads blinking on the right side of the FR page so they can pay for bandwidth!

This FReepathon is moving especially slowly. I'm hoping more folks start remembering that it costs JimRob money to keep this place running.

Maybe it has something to do with longtime Freepers being called Nazis, pro-death, etc.

Just a guess.

I give because this site is addicting. I'm not sure why long timers do not.

I don't know but was wondering if it had anything to do with Schaivo threads? seemed like lots of people have been banned or left?

Just an observation but it seems like alot of old freepers are not here any longer?

I've given my amount, but not sure why this drive is taking so long.

Allow me to hazard a guess... bannings en masse for not blindly towing the party line might be a reason nobody wants to give $ anymore. But that's just a guess.

I think it was the worst thing to happen to FR in a while.

Actually I wouldn't be completely against seeing advertising on this site, but only if it was for conservative companies/institutions. And no pop-ups!

I mostly stayed away from FR during the Schiavo madness simply because I found the place stressful with all the tension, so I don't know who got banned and who didn't. And maybe I'm being naive about it, but I really can't see anyone getting banned simply because of their opinion, without excessive amounts of some sort of unbecoming behavior. I just can't believe that there were any totally innocent parties in that mess.

(socal_parrot): Opus Day fallout?

You may be right.

You'll never see me opus, but I agree with some of what those (former) Freepers are saying, hence my tagline.

And this is the last month I'll be parting with any of my $ for FR.
I'm sad to have to do that.

However, there's only so much irrational invective I can have flung my way before I stop having to pay for it too.
I stayed away from many of the Schaivo threads and only made a couple of posts on the WPPFF thread, but now I feel like I was silent too long.

Until the "Terripalooza" happened, I was a diehard FReeper, so you can only imagine how less enthusiastic folks feel.
