President Bush selected his father and Bill Clinton over Jimmy Carter for the official delegation attending the funeral of Pope John Paul II, the Carter Center claimed Late Tuesday.

Two Popes died during Carter's administration. He sent his wife as the US representative to the first funeral and he sent his mother to the second.
Where did you find that little nugget?
He is hoping that some of the Bush's good manners and breeding will rub off on him.
Not going to happen of course; Billy is a sow's ear and can't be helped.
Regards,
Sure, I would like our President to do some things VERY differently. When I look at the alternative, I appreciate what he does extraordinarily.
I truly believe that President GWB is boxing Hillary in areas that limits her as much as anyone can limit her. It may work. It may not work. I think it has a much better chance of working than Newt Gingrich's inept handling of the media portion of his battles with the Klintons in 1995/96. Even though Newt is more pure as an intellectual conservative than is President GWB.
I would submit that President GWB has done far better than anyone could have imagined in neutralizing the MSM.

POOR JIMMY [Kate O'Beirne]
We shouldn't feel too sorry for former President Carter who didn't make the cut for the delegation to the Pope's funeral. After all, two popes died in 1978, and Rosalynn headed the first delegation to Pope Paul VI's funeral and his mother, Lillian led the one to Pope John Paul I's funeral. So, President Carter had his chance.

One of the news channels said the White House extended an invitation to Carter and the ball is in his court. Apparently, he chooses not to go.
....it's a brilliant strategy to get the liberal democrats upset...and it's working! Chris Matthews is having a hissy fit about the Bush-Clinton relationship....good for us...bad for the liberals....
Thanks. Too funny!
Bush Sr., Clinton and W are the three most recent presidents of the U.S. In matters of state, you follow the forms and exhibit courtesies, honoring the offices if not the person.
So Lillian Carter won't get to go???
Excuse me but being a Southern Baptist, I hold the Pope in high esteem and give him all the respect for the leadership he provides to the millions of Christians in the world, not just Catholics.
I may not subscribe to the Catholic church but I do believe he to be a brother in Christ and as such, deserves all the respect I would give to my pastor or neighbor down the street.
Thanx for the info, jackbill.
