For some reason this tickled my funny bone. (Maybe I'm just slap happy.)

I think it's funny, but I don't think that many people are going to get the joke.

Count me in as one who doesn't get it, I'm sorry.
Maybe I'll try again in the morning after a fresh cup of coffee. :)

Some of the deadliest diseases that affect humans come from animal reservoirs. For example, plague is transmitted to humans by a flea that bites an infected rat and then bites a human.
If you look at the animal characters in the cartoon, you'll see that they're all sick-looking, like they are infected with some bug. So when the cartoon characters talk about "getting their revenge on humanity," they're referencing animals being a way for humans to get deathly sick.
It's funny if you've taken a microbiology course, but the point of the cartoon really is a bit obscure.

"It's funny if you've taken a microbiology course, but the point of the cartoon really is a bit obscure."No, it's more literal than that. Starting with Big Bird and going clockwise, the diseases are:
Bird flu, panda virus, Duck virus enteritis, Hanta Viruse (from mouse poop), I don;t know what viruse comes from dogs, Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), and Barney just drives people insane.
Not all of these dieases infect humans, namely Duck Virus, and CWD, but they do affect us in terms of hunting (duck and deer).
To: Oblongata
You definitely know your diseases! I knew the specific references made to bird flu and hanta virus, but I myself was clueless on the others. You should have chosen "Frontal Lobe" as your screen name. :-)

Thanks for the explanation. I agree, the cartoon's a little oblique.
