President Bush selected his father and Bill Clinton over Jimmy Carter for the official delegation attending the funeral of Pope John Paul II, the Carter Center claimed Late Tuesday.
"President Carter expressed to the White House a desire to attend the Pope's funeral," an official said.
Carter "was informed that the official delegation would be limited to just five people, and there were also others who were eager to attend."
"The Carters always relish the memories of Pope John Paul II being a delightful personal guest at the White House in 1979, on a pope's only visit to our nation's capital city. Subsequently, they visited with His Holiness in the Vatican."

Interesting. I wonder why the delegation is limited to five. 3 and 7 are Biblical, and none of the other suitable numbers were prime.

As much as I'd like to, I don't buy this for a minute.
I just think the liberals at the Carter Center are constantly trying to glorify their man by bestowing additional victim status on him. They equate it somehow to nobility.
It's a weird liberal fetish.

The AP says:
"It wasn't immediately clear why former President Carter was not going along as well. McClellan said the White House reached out to him but would not elaborate. A spokesman with his Carter Center in Atlanta, Jon Moore, also would not explain."

This is a great dis on Karter, but I wouldn't be giving Klinton the time of day either. It should be awarded to a county librarian using the lottery system.

They drew straws for the token loser spot, Bill beat him out. Hillary was left out also.

In all honesty, Carter is probably just too busy certifying that joke of an election in Zimbabwe as fair and honest to take the time to attend.
To: GianniV
It would have been better if they'd told him, "Okay, we'll be by to pick you up at eight o'clock on Thursday" and then just left him sitting on his front porch.
