A farmer was left stunned after his pet pooch took to the wheel of his car - and drove it down a 40-foot bank and into a stream.
When Arnold Luscombe's way was blocked by a herd of sheep he got out to raise the alarm, forgetting to set the handbrake.
Spotting an opportunity, Shep jumped into the driver's seat, knocking the 28-year-old vehicle into first gear and setting it on a path to destruction.
Mr Luscombe watched from a nearby house in Kingsbridge, Devon, as his car - and his dog - headed off without him.
Flabbergasted, he told the Daily Express: "I was talking at the door when we heard a noise and I looked round to see my car driving off and disappearing over the bank."
Luckily, both dog and car escaped unscathed, but Mr Luscombe added: "You couldn't say the same for the eggs in the back.
Shep's adventures will not be happening again though - he is "banned from the front seat from now on".
" he is "banned from the front seat from now on"."
That's good, cuz he's a bad driver
Never trust those Fox News Commentators! Seriously, the dog "spotted an opportunity"? LMAO
Bad Dog! No Biscuit!
The driver should have put the car in bark instead of leaving it in drive.
Who's been a bad boy?
I wonder whether they'll have a skit about that on Blue Collar TV!
That "Shep" in 2000 hit a CNN reporterette with his car....
Several years ago, in the NY suburbs..and elderly lady was killed by her dog driving the car... She put the dog in the car, backed out of her garage..then got out to close the garage door...The dog, excited, jumped on the front seat and dashboard, knocked the shift lever from "Park" to "Drive"..and squashed his owner between the front of the car and the garage dor..
I remeber Toonces... back when SNL was half-way decent. It stinks now.
I thought this article was about Shepard Smith.
Anyone who lets his dog take the wheel is an idiot. As we all know, dogs are colorblind, and cannot distinguish between red and green, http://www.uwsp.edu/psych/dog/LA/DrP4.htm
How in the world can we expect them to know whether a stoplight is red or green!?
Sheesh!
All my dog knows is how to lock the car with the keys in it.
And isn't it just like the British to have a stop light to govern the approaches to 40-foot embankments?
Don't drive angry!
Now, if it were an SUV then the dog would have gotten off scott-free.
Sure I let my dog drive, but I don't let go of the leash.
