The wrangling continued even before Terri Schiavo's body was cold.
Would there or woudn't there be an autopsy? All along, we were told the husband wouldn't allow it. Then we were told Florida law requires autopsy and it would be done by the Pinellas county medical examiner. When Terri's parents requested that renown forensic pathologist Dr. Cyril H. Wecht be allowed to observe, the answer was "no."
Would she be buried or cremated? The family requested a Catholic funeral with Terri's body. Terri is Catholic; her husband Michael isn't. He said "no."
Where will her remains be laid to rest? Her parents, brother and sister request Florida, where they live. The husband says "no," it will be in Pennsylvania. He even refused to specify where until ordered to by the court.
Finally, a court ruling in Terri's favor. But she's dead.

Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, yearning to be starved to death.
This column is a little silly. Hundreds of thousands have died in defense of our coutry and of the Constitution. As tragic as Terri'd desth is, it needs to be viewed in the bigger context of another battle in the everlasting battle against tyranny.
?.....what religion and denomination does/has he claimed?
Yes... perspective is needed. The fight over Terri may have been really emotional for people, but many of our own soldiers died in service to this country while the news was focusing on the Terri debate, and more than a few tragic child killings and other crimes took place in this country. It's a complex country folks, not stained or weakened by one highly argued court case.
"[Nancy Cruzan, three days before her death from starvation] turned and looked at me and stared at me with a panicky look, sweating profusely, and the thought I had was, she was thinking, Oh, heres a policeman, hell help me. But we werent allowed to do that,"...Doug Seneker
Agreed.
I agree

The young Schiavo, who attended Lutheran church on Sundays and Bible camp during summers,
Our Liberty has been stained by more than Terri's blood.
It is time to stop the tyranny of the Judiciary - it is time to call the government in to account for itself.
Complaining about a judge--like Greer--being cold blooded and legalistic is like complaining about a dog because it barks. In the end, Jeb is the one with the most to answer for. He only took SAFE action. A daring man, a man driven by the Holy Spirit, would have found some quasi-legal pretext, however threadbare, to raid that hospice, rescue Terri, reinsert the tube, and give her the rehab that would have made her a thinking functioning person. All these quasi-conservatives and quasi-christians who are saying not to blame Jeb but to blame judges like Greer are no different from persons who are soaked by the rain, yet do not bother to open an umbrella.
Actually, what was done to Terri might be just the camel's nose under the tent. This was, in fact, euthanasia, a killing of someone simply because her husband, his lawyer, and some judges thought her life wasn't worth living. If the lawyer, Felos, his friends within "right to die" movement and the Hemlock Society have their way, they will soon begin clearing hospital and nursing homes beds of the disabled and the infirm--whether they want to die or not.
This is one of those things that people need to seriously consider--the Constitutional right to life in this country is one of the reasons our military is fighting overseas. In my opinion, that IS "the bigger context." If this country loses its moral compass, it becomes no better than those countries we fought during WWII. (And please also recall: Hitler didn't impose the holocaust all at once--it started in small, incremental steps, and each one of them was within the "rule of the law" for those times.)
We, the people, are going to have to stand up or we will continue to be trampled on, and this is no small matter. It is about life and death.

That's it right there. One day, perhaps, thousands of patriots will protest together in Washington, or on the doorsteps of the Supreme Court. It is legal, and it is time.
Not carried out by our government, a government who up till Roe v. Wade stood up for life. This is a huge turning point for our government, and the disabled are now in danger along with babies, they now have the same value in the eyes of our government as fetuses, all it takes is hearsay to get rid of one.
Who's next. It might take another 40 years like it has since Roe, but who's next. I guess we can look to the nazis for that answer, who did they choose.
Nothing complex at all concerning the Judiciary. They have been and are unchecked and are running amuck. This case is another example.
This case has put the whole country in a funk and has internationally stained us, our constitution, and weakened further the primacy the constitution gave to the Congressional and Executive branches.
Let's support Delay when he goes on the attack.
Every day, hard decisions are made about further treatment to the terminally ill and others who are unrecoverable due to injury or illness. This case was probably the most litigated case of any, and the only difference between this and other cases is that you heard about it. You heard some truth, many rumors, and many emotional but unrealistic declarations. It could be a good time to rationally discuss medical and judiciary ethics, if people could be remotely reasonable and not invoke images of Nazis and abortion where they don't reasonably belong.
Time will give us some perspective, I hope.
You miss the point. Terri was NOT terminall ill. There is also evidence that, with proper rehab (withheld by her abusive spouse), she could have been a cogent, functioning person again. Terri was OK until she was starved and denied water.
.....yearning to be starved to death....
Please recall that she was bulemic and did in fact starve herself into a perpetual vegetative state.
