I handled a case a once, a man had multiple copperhead bites to the hand. Guy was a mess.
When I called to follow up on his progress the rest of the story was:
Drunken man and buddy visiting, apparently a nest of young copperheads were weathering out a cold spell under the porch and got into the kitchen.
The drunk ineffectively had tried to stomp them and then pick them up and throw them out the door.
The only thing worse than a venomous snake is a ticked off venomous snake.
