Terri Schiavo's widower has gone into hiding because of the furore over his wife's death and has sought police protection.
Michael Schiavo, 41, is under guard three days after his disabled wife died from dehydration at a Florida hospice.
She had spent 13 days without food or water after a United States judge upheld Mr Schiavo's claim that she would not have wished to continue life in a persistently vegetative state.
"His goal is to find safe housing because of these death threats," said a friend, Alan Shoopak. "It's not over. Unfortunately, it's just beginning."
Mrs Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, who went to the US Supreme Court to block the removal of their daughter's feeding tube, admit that they care little for their son-in-law, but have urged against revenge attacks.
"Our family abhors any violence, or any threats of violence. We ask that all those who support our family be completely kind in their words and deeds towards others," said Mrs Schiavo's sister, Suzanne Vitadamo.
Anger at Mr Schiavo's actions has been fuelled by the revelation that a court order from a county judge, George Greer, who repeatedly refused the Schindlers' pleas to let their daughter live, will allow him to have her cremated and her ashes interred in Pennsylvania. The Schindlers' request for a share of the ashes or even a lock of their daughter's hair has also been refused.
The family see it as the final act in a 12-year campaign of spite by their son-in-law. Other alleged snubs include having his wife's wedding ring melted down to make a ring for himself.
Last week, while his wife's life ebbed away at the Woodside Hospice in Pinellas Park, Florida, Mr Schiavo moved into quarters on site, to avoid protesters outside. Some had banners expressing vitriol for Mr Schiavo and Judge Greer. "You are going to hell, murderers," one read. The hospice also received hoax bomb threats last week.
For several days, Mr Schiavo has not returned to the home in Clearwater he shares with his fiancée, Jodi Centonze, and their two children. Friends speculate that they may leave Florida altogether.
The results of a post-mortem examination, which it is believed may shed more light on years-old bone fractures Mrs Schiavo suffered, and the extent of her brain damage, will be published within weeks.
Mr Schiavo's friends and family speak of a man who honoured his wife's wishes and released her from what he perceived to be a life without hope. After cradling her in his arms as she died on Thursday morning, he placed a rose in her hand and kissed her goodbye.
A Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday.

MS is a monster of the first order. Now that he has no Terri to abuse and despise, he will turn to someone else for his 'fix'. The best thing that could happen to that monster is for society to ignore him completely and no one even threaten his life. He will soon be overwhelmed with the paranoia born of his own hate unrelieved. MS has a very shrill anima (the female side of the persona) that showed up every time he was on CNN or MSNBC with his Hemlock Attorney, Felos. That anima will eat him alive as time goes by ... and that is the most fitting demise for a monster like him because time has a way of hounding the conscience. But if I were advising Jodi, I'd give her different advice ... to get as far out of that monster's life as humanly possible.

Why wouldn't this man just divorce Terri after he got the girlfriend and two kids. I'll never understand that unless he needed to stay married to her for money from lawsuits or something like that. Maybe it was just to spite the parents because of his hatred but its a mystery to me!
Especially Terri.
She got death threats from:
Her husband.
George Felos.
Judge Greer.
The Pinellas Park Police Department.
The Middle District Federal District Court.
The Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
The United States Supreme Court, led by Uber-European Paul Kennedy.
And they delivered.

Wow, I didn't know that. I wiah that had gotten the attention it deserved when Terri could've still been saved.
] I feel sorry for him and Judge Greer in the same way that I felt sorry for Jeffry Dahmer. The only difference was that Dahmer was insane. Greer, Felos and Schiavo are simply evil.
No wonder that Greer's church asked him to leave!?!
I think they meant adultering husband with two bastard kids with a mistress. Besides, he was just on TV tonight. Once can hardly call that hiding. Call it captializing.
You are right, they have no fear of higher authority. But, while they talk their talk so boldly now, the path of life, as they get older, will change by events and years. and, doubt will creep into their evil, life killing, secular minds. The likes of Teddy Kennedy, Howard Dean, Congressman Frank, Wexler, and Congresswoman Wassaman, Michael Schiavo, George Felos, the liberal Democrat vermin, etc. will have the fear of the Lord overtake them before they pass from this earth. I can attest to this from my own near death experience and watching my wonderful thirty-seven year old daughter die with the dignity of the Lord at her side from breast cancer last year.
I actually pray for these people, for they will need all the prayers and forgiveness they can get. If Americans for life want their revenge against these unGodly animals, don't harm them, just destroy the current Democrat Party at the ballot box in this mortal life. That will hurt them much more than any killing or bodily harm!!!

I think it was government funds that caused Felos and Michael Shiavo to put Terri in a hospice in the first place, where she was not supposed to be, for she was not terminally ill, and she lived in that hospice for 4 years. I saw on the TV, where Felos said that Micheal had not had a bill from the hospice in 3 years.
This needs to be investigated by an impartial person, to see if any laws were broken. Was putting Terri in a hospice a way to fleece the goverment of money?
agree..IMHO I'm sure Felos/Michael are planning for their next move for cashing in on this tragedy...>suing the hospital & the Drs., movie/book rights...while avoiding manslaughter charges

Mike S. could not risk Terri improving to the point where she could speak and tell the world that her husband tried to kill her. He could not control her if he divorced her. That's why he wouldn't allow a truly independent autopsy after Terri's death, why he demanded she cremated, why he wouldn't let the family in as she died, why he wouldn't allow any kind of medical investigation or rehabilitative therapy, why he was hell bent on killing her AFTER he got the 1.6 million dollar settlement.
