EUROPEAN bureaucrats will push forward legislation today to force the Scottish Executive to change place-names that offend or discriminate on the grounds of race and gender.
In a move the Nationalists described as the "ultimate madness in political correctness", it has taken only a quorum of four Euro commissioners from Italy, Germany, France and Spain to redraw Scotland's map.
The German commissioner, Arlo Pilof, the architect of the 2006 Race and Gender Equality Imposition Code (conformity), an amendment to existing rules, said: "We believe many names do not conform, and we started with Scotland because it is the worst of the culprits with offensive names such as Skinflats, near Grangemouth."

Too bad that this is not an April Fool's joke. It is this kind of stupidity that is causing many in Europe to question the direction and nature of the EU. Also, this points-out the lack of scholarship in the EU commission looking into this matter: none of the investigators bothered to examine the Anglo-Saxon, Old English or Celtic meanings of the placenames.

"The German commissioner,
Arlo Pilof"
Too bad that this is not an April Fool's joke.
It is. The 'comissioners' name is an anagram for "April Fool"

the right to table what is known as a "L.I.L Proof A", Yes, but the fact that it's so easy to believe it shows such nonsense is not unlikely in the future.

Well the EU is demanding that certain food items be renamed if they do not originate from specific regions. For example, Parmesan cheese can only bear that name if it comes from Parma, Italy. Otherwise, it has to be named "Parmesan Style Cheese."

And 'champagne' can only come from the unwashed hands and feet of Frenchmen. I'm glad I drink sparkling wine instead.

Considering the genuinely stupid things that they do every day, yes it would not surprise me if this joke becomes a reality.

Recently, a colleage brought in a box of imported chocolate into the office. The package read "chocolate style product." I asked, "what the hell is this?" as i pointed at the label. He replied that the Dutch pushed for "chocolate" to apply to their chocolate and that non-Dutch chocolate had to be named something else. Don't Europeans have anything more important to do with their time? Oops, that was a silly question...

I had not been the subject of an April Fool's prank in so long, I had let down my guard; that is when folks usually strike.
