POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -- Viewers expecting to see the latest local meeting on their public access channel got an eyeful recently when Cablevision played a tape of nude dancers accidentally.
The mistake affected customers in parts of Dutchess, Ulster, Putnam and Orange counties.
Hopewell Junction resident George Morton returned home from Palm Sunday Mass and turned on his television to see a striptease contest.
"I thought, this is terrible," Morton said. "I don't get HBO or anything like that."
Cablevision said Thursday it was not a public access program and that a "program switching error" occurred.
"When it was detected, the programming was removed immediately," Cablevision spokesman Bill Powers said. "We have taken appropriate steps to prevent this from happening again."
Morton said he planned to file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission.

"I thought, this is terrible,"The strippers were terrible, or the fact that the strippers were on public access was terrible?
Perhaps they'll call it the Pubic Access channel?

Viewers expecting to see the latest local meeting on their public access channel got an eyeful recently when Cablevision played a tape of nude dancers accidentally. If the local meetings in Poughkeepsie are like the ones around here I'd rather watch the strippers.

Up until last month, Seattle Public Access broadcast the Mike Hunt show, which was a guy showing uncensored clips of his favorite porn films.

Don't say his name too fast.

I'm sure that Cablevision sent out a memo telling their employees to stop watching personal programs on company equipment.
But I have to seriously wonder why this would be a federal issue (the FCC) since it is not a broadcast station. It strikes me that this is an issue for the city or township who award cable contracts.

By all means, file a complaint with the FCC.
That didn't backfire with the Janet Jackson issue, or anything. Our local radio station is the home of Bob and Tom. They've had to act like a bunch of choir boys since that whole fiasco. If you don't like specific programming - turn it off. That's the beauty of a free country.
Complain to the FCC? Yet another ironic example of a conservative running to the government to "fix what ails them".......
To: kingu
It's probably a ploy by the local planning commission. Put the word out that if you tune in to their meeting, maybe you'll see a bit of T&A.

Complain to the FCC? Yet another ironic example of a conservative running to the government to "fix what ails them"....... I had the same thought. The guy complaining is a grown man who I doubt had his tender psyche damaged that much. He'll probably use the "some child might have seen it" argument.

Why is there never a malfunction in which porn is inadvertently replaced by reruns of The Lawrence Welk Show or Fishing with Orlando Wilson?
