FREDERICTON - Rifle shots were fired into the air Friday during a confrontation between sealers and protesters in the Gulf of St. Lawrence off the north coast of Prince Edward Island.
The shots were fired by someone aboard the vessel after abuse shouted by about a half-dozen sealers escalated into a shoving match with protesters. The activists then retreated to their helicopters.

Protesters having a shoving match with people who have guns, very smart.
Should have had an "accident" and shot up the choppers instead. Bet they get a lot more polite when their only method of leaving gets disabled.
i wouldn't even joke about that.
I'm glad the hunters or protesters didn't hurt anyone or vandalize property.
The protesters spoiled for a fight, luckily sounds like all they got was warning shots.
Save the seals at all cost!...but to hell with anyone on a feeding tube!
The sealers aren't doing anything illegal. The "protesters" shouldn't be allowed to harass them while they work. The sealers should carry tazers and just zap the sumbiches next time.
...pellet shots to the rear end would work too........
Another helping of Flipper Pie anyone?
@#!% seals will fill up on salmon and then half kill other ones for sport.....
Where did this happen that such drivers exist? When I lived in Wisconsin, deer tied to cars and trucks were a common sight. And if they stopped at a gas station or somewhere, the hunters who bagged the deer were congratulated, especially for a buck with an impressive rack.
But here in South Carolina, which is so overrun with deer that the state may proclaim open season, I have not ever seen a deer tied to a hood or trunk lid. Wonder why.
If they are anything like the coastal deer found at Camp Lejeune, they are about the size of a large dog (with longer legs, of course). Just as easy to throw them in the bed of the pickup or back of the SUV, I suppose.
That would be "deer," not "dear."
Paul Watson was involved so they probably tried to ram and board the Sealers vessel
Unfortunately I live in a very BLUE state called New York, though it be upstate. Amen.
I just turned 40, so mine will be approaching quickly.
