Berger: Taking Documents Was NOT 'Honest Mistake'
www.theindychannel.com ^ | UPDATED: 5:54 pm EST April 1, 2005

WASHINGTON -- Sandy Berger now admits that it was no "honest mistake" when he took classified documents from the National Archives.

The former Clinton national security adviser pleaded guilty Friday to taking the documents and cutting them up with scissors. Berger told a federal judge in Washington that he intentionally took three copies of a document about terror threats, and destroyed them.

The documents deal with the government's anti-terror efforts during the 2000 millennium celebration.

Under a plea deal that the judge must accept, Berger will serve no jail time for the misdemeanor. He's to pay a $10,000 fine and lose his security clearance for three years. His sentencing is scheduled for July 8.

Better to admit that you are a liar late than never.

Yeah, I'd admit it, too, if I were only getting a slap on the wrist.

Berger is so lucky the Pope died today, so he's getting minimal coverage. He doesn't deserve the timing.

...Under a plea deal that the judge must accept...

Must accept? Since when has a judge ever accepted something they must do? Where's the 11th Circuit Court when you really need them?

So is there going to be any effort to investigate beyond him? Or are the authorities just going to go into "Lone Nut" mode?

Odd coincidence that he gets a three year suspension of his security clearance. Like G.W. Bush was about to make him a Security Advisor. I love how they all take care of one another in Washington. What B.S.

Berger is STILL lying!! He stole and destroyed documents that prove that Willie was involved in the long standing connection between OBL and Saddam, the very connection that the flaming crapweasels dems blathered didn't exist. Berger protected Willie and also Hillie by destroying evidence that could be used against her. The worst part of this whole event will be hearing the Lanny Davises and Begalas of the dem sewer (probably Clidt, Molly Eveans and Moron, too) tell us how thankful we should be to Berger for cleaning up the records. They will spin this to fantacize that Berger is a good guy and was innocent of any wrong doing.

Gee. Let me see if I have this straight. The traitor has admitted that he lied to federal investigators.

But Sandy isn't any ordinary American. He isn't Martha Stewart, either. He's a traitor being protected by the federal government.

Under a plea deal that the judge must accept,

Is this statement for real?

Can it be that we the public, whether right or left are just pawns in the elites sick game?

This guy should be serving some REAL time for his obstruction/traitorism....the Clintonistas still have some "muscle" I see.
Could it be connected to those "missing" FBI files that Shrillary had her hands on for oh-so-long?

Now Berger gets to write a book. The MSM will portray him as a victim of a right-wing conspiracy. He'll do morning talk, 60 Minutes and a "tear-fessional" with Barbra. In America, crime pays if you're a liberal.

They still stole and destroyed the documents they needed they give back the ones they dont and cop to them...

The administration allows it..set it up ..and lets them get away with a slap on the wrist..

same reason the Clintons are free and one of them is even a Senator from a state she never even lived in..

Mena Arkansas... may the whole truth someday be told...

More info here

Robinson did not ask Berger why he cut up the materials and threw them away at the Washington office of his Stonebridge International consulting firm.

However, under a plea agreement that still must be approved by Robinson, Berger would serve no jail time but pay a $10,000 fine, surrender his security clearance for three years and cooperate with investigators.

And the judge god said to Sandy, Fear not my son, you are a liberal, one of us, and I will protect you by insuring no time served and a paltry 10 grand slap on the wrist. And oh yeah, in order for you to do more sneaky things, you will get your national security clearance back muy pronto.
