Later this week, the spotlight will be on Southeastern Arizona. Starting Friday, the month-long Minuteman Project will have volunteers, some armed, watching and waiting for illegal border crossers.
It's gaining international attention. Tuesday, Mexican officials met with the Mayor of Douglas to discus how they will handle potential violence.
Angela Castillo Lopez and her 10-year-old granddaughter live in Agua Prieta Sonora. They cross daily into Douglas to visit family and to buy groceries.
But with word of the Minuteman Project, Lopez says she won't be crossing after April 1st. She feels its too dangerous.
That concerns Agua Prieta Mayor David Figueroa and Douglas Mayor Ray Borane. They met privately to discuss the situations.
Mayor Borane showed fugueroa a flyer distributed over the weekend by a group calling themselves National Alliance.
Borane says, "I think they are concerned, maybe a little bit more, because its going to be dealing with their compatriots."
That's why the Agua Prieta Mayor called a meeting with 50 other local and national officials.
It was one of those officials who bought another flyer to distribute to Mexican citizens. It warns people about crossing the desert in April.
The flyer states, "vigilantes" will be patrolling 24 hours and might be armed.
Mayor Figueroa says his plan is to be cautions and to maintain a low profile. The last thing he want is to provoke violence.
David Morales, a spokesman for Agua Prieta says, "We understand it can become a volitale situation and we don't want to contribute to that in any form."
The Mexican military is on stand-by. One unit has about a thousand soldiers. They're located just across the border.
They're united with the Mayor of Agua Prieta and they're saying they're hoping for the best, but preparing for the worst.
"The Fox had better be careful......"
Time to set the hounds loose - one Fox too many...(and there are a lot of English fox hounds and hunters just dyin' for a crack at one - the parlimentary ban does not extend here - we had a tea party and a war that decided that about 229 years ago).
Then it's already a success!
This story doesn't mention that the cause of the concern is the threat to Mexico's largest source of income - wire transfers from wetbacks.
BTTT
All they need is tourist visas.

A blockbuster exposé in the magazine's March issue notes that over the past five years, there have been 120 documented incidents of Mexican military/police incursions, sometimes resulting in the arrest of Mexican army personnel on U.S. soil by Border Patrol agents.
The Mexican Military has already crossed the border many times. Nothing was said or done about it then so what makes you think now would make a difference?
Our government has sided with the illegals against American citizens. We need to all just admit it.
I've been watching blog reports from the Minutemen over at GOPUSA. They say that the flow of illegals has slowed to a trickle. They also say that they have heard a few shots from over on the Mexican side of the border where the Mexican troops are at.
I'm just guessing but I bet that this is something Los Presidentes Jorge and Vincete cooked up at their recent meeting. I'll bet that the Mexicans are stopping the illegals from coming. Next they will tell us that the border is under "operational control" and that we should quit worrying about it.
"Birds of a feather flock together."
"People are like water, they will seek their own level."
Agreed, and why can this country not see that? Would Bush change his mind about all this if his ranch in Crawford were swarmed by these illegals? Do you suppose there might be some bloodshed if a mass of them moved in on his ranch? Count on it.
Of course it does..
Mexican drug mules can get stopped..
Mexico HAS no government.. Mexico is run by gangsters..
Always has been..
Bush is bent over backwards and has his head very deep between his legs.. He better remove it.. -OR- it might become evident we also have a government of Mob Rule run by mobsters all mobbed up too.. a democracy.. and not a republic anymore at all.. Then the threat might not be to the Mexico City Drug Cartels but too Washington D.C.
Hopefully the mobsters in Mexico City are NOT a branch of the ones in Foggy Bottom..
A damn good reason to send them all packing across the border. We should deport their employers along with them.
>>Our government has sided with the illegals against American citizens. We need to all just admit it.<<
Then it is time to replace the government officials. DO NOT RE-ELECT ANYONE. They are all corrupt!
I beilive they have been on the border for years helping the drug smugglers and coyotes and harrassing our Border Patrol.
And our first Mexican Presidente refuses to defend America. Shameful. Impeachable offense IMO.
Well it is kind of like AA. First you have to admit to the problem. But yes I agree with you on replacing them. I have sent emails to all my senators and congressmen/women, as well as the RNC that NOONE will receive another dime from me in contributions until they ALL get on the right side of the illegal immigration issue.
Maybe the withholding of money will get their attention. The threat of withholding votes hasn't worked yet. Fools keep electing them anyway.
You need to grow a spine!
