SPRINGFIELD, Mo., March 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) today issued the following statement:
"Everything about the Schiavo case has been tragic: her illness, the divisions her case has generated, and now her death.
"I am sorry that the courts reviewed only the judicial process, rather than the facts of the case, as Congress had intended.
"Terri can now rest in peace. I hope her family will find comfort, and that all Americans will reflect on the troubling issues that this tragedy has highlighted."

He's right that ALOT of things need to be changed. Like the definition of TERMINAL, when it's inhumane to give a NON TERMINAL person food/water and when a spouse is not a spouse anymore....
Poor Terri...this is what she got for trying to be thin for her man.....

Sorry? What about negating the powers of Congress, you wimp? Where is your defense of your own institution? You just lie down like this and accept the rule of judges?
"Terri can now rest in peace. I hope her family will find comfort, and that all Americans will reflect on the troubling issues that this tragedy has highlighted."
Gosh! How weak! Eichman could have issued that after seeing Auschwitz. "Terrily sad place to see. . . too bad it had to come to this. . . But now we can move on with our lives. . ."

Question: If I lock you in a room where you have no access to food and water, if you are dead when I unlock the room after 14 days have I murdered you?
Does it change the answer if you are paralyzed from the neck down, so that you normally need someone to feed you? What if you are unable to eat solid food?
This is not a tragedy. The tsunami in Southern Asia was a tragedy. This is a travesty.
Shalom.

Terri can now rest in peace.
What kind of statement is THAT?!! She was murdered, and now he's thankful that she can rest in peace? Grow some Mr. Blunt! Why don't you try speaking Bluntly for once instead of like a politician?

GYou need to calm down. You're freaking out because someone said, "Terri can now rest in peace"? Do you disagree with that, or something?

Good, but not blunt enough, imho.

Terri can now rest in peace.
So we should just forget about it. Forget that our government has just mudered an innocent woman for expediency.
Is this the Republican party that Conservatives must support?

Congressman Tom DeLay's statement...
""Mrs. Schiavo's death is a moral poverty and a legal tragedy. This loss happened because our legal system did not protect the people who need protection most, and that will change. The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior, but not today..."

Is this the Republican party that Conservatives must support? My question, too.
How about Lights Out tommorrow night? Stay home with no/low lights and think about what is happening here. Make America darker tomorrow night.

I can be blunt. She was murdered by her husband, his attorney, the courts, the damnable mis-reporting by the MSM, and the indifference of America's people.
This is a sad and terrifying day for this nation.

I disagree with the fact that she was murdered, that the state was complicit in that murder, and that this politician is too limp to take a stand.
We all have hope that Terri is with God right now. I'm just saying that his words make the whole situation seem a little too "comfortable", like nothing was really ALL that wrong!

That's something that my family and I will now need to prayerfully consider. And I'm writing this as a 20 year Republican political activist.

The rush by, those that could have acted with real intent to help, to claim Terri's lifeless body for their cause, is the final hypocrisy. We once had leaders that would refused to stoop so low.

"That's something that my family and I will now need to prayerfully consider. And I'm writing this as a 20 year Republican political activist." The only trouble with this approach is the alternative. Imagine how this tragedy would have played out with Kerry as president and the dems in Congressional majority!
