Yes, it appears that the current cycle of global cooling is making the Earth much less hot than it should be.

Like having your head in an oven and feet in the freezer, on the average you're doing just fine.

No matter what Halliburten's paid-off scientists say....It's Bush's fault.

Yeah, if Bush had ratified the Tilted Earth Treaty, it wouldn't have happened!!

If at the count of 3 we all lean to the right we can solve the global warming problem.

In the past million years, the Earth experienced a major ice age about every 100,000 years. Scientists have several theories to explain this glacial cycle, but new research suggests the primary driving force is all in how the planet leans. If scientists can't conclusively say why something as huge as ice ages come and go, then they don't know squat about global climate systems. Or about the possibilities of global warming.

Earths axis is currently pointing at the North Star, Polaris, but it is always rotating around in a conical pattern. In about 10,000 years, it will point toward the star Vega, which will mean that winter in the Northern Hemisphere will begin in June instead of January. What??? This sounds like a mistake on the part of the author of this article.
Help!

"Please pass the Dramamine !!"I can't tell that the tilt affects me much except when I'm trying to stand first thing in the morning.
The spinning causes me to pass out every 24 hours. And when I come to, I'm ok for the next 16 hours, before I pass out again.
But it's the orbiting around the sun, that I think causes me to have alternating cold and hot spells, with sinus trouble in between.

I think I understand. The north end of the earth's axis will be pointing away from the sun on the opposite side of its orbit relative to the way it is now. i.e. imagine the earth's orbit mapped out as a compass dial. Now, in the present day, the northern hemisphere points away from the sun (winter) at 0 degrees (December). Because of where Vega is relative to our solar system, when the axis points at it, the northern hemisphere will be tilted away from the sun at 180 degrees (on the imaginary compass face), which would correspond to June.

In about 10,000 years, [the North Pole] will point toward the star Vega, which will mean that winter in the Northern Hemisphere will begin in June instead of January. Don't believe everything you read in the papers. Yes, in 10,000 years the North Pole will point more or less towards Vega, but the Gregorian Calendar is pretty well tuned to the solar year, not the sidereal year, which means that winter in the North Hemisphere will begin about December 19 instead of December 22. Assuming no further modifications to the Gregorian Calendar, are implemented. We could just decide that years divisible by 3200 are leap years and keep going for another 16,000 years or so.

The drift in the seasons with respect to the calendar is shown above. The Gregorian Calendar loses about one day in 3000 years. Just make years divisible by 3200 leap years and you won't lose a day in 16,000 years.

I'll make a note to remind me to care about this in 3199.
What? *I* intend to be here. Why don't you? :)
