On March 28, our doofus Democrat Governor did something right for a change and signed into law HB 1656 introduced by Delegate Scott Lingamfelter designating Virginia State Route 234 in Prince William County between U.S. Route 1 and Interstate 66 as the "Ronald Wilson Reagan Memorial Highway." This legislation goes into effect on July 1, 2005, at which time VDOT will place and maintain appropriate markers indicating the highway's new designation. While street addresses and such will still be Dumfries Road, we should do everything that we can to start promoting usage of this designation. It may take a while just as it did with National Aiport becoming known as Reagan National Airport, but we can do it.
This is a great victory for Delegate Lingamfelter, all the members of the Prince William County Republican Committee and the rest of the grassroots activists who pushed this measure. From the unanimous adoption of the resolution by the Prince Willian County Republican Committee last September to designate Route 234 in honor of President Reagan to all of the grassroots contacts that were made with the Board of County Supervisors as well as numerous key Delegates and Senators -- we made the difference and helped to achieve this goal. Thank you.
One more thing to celebrate at our county's Lincoln-Reagan Dinner this year!
There is a Reagan Expressway in the Chicago area now too. I have to pinch myself to believe that this liberal city has dedicated an expressway to RWR!

If only we could get Dallas County TX to rename LBJ Freeway to Ronald Reagan Road, 'The Triple R'.
We've had a highway in Cincinnati named for RWR since 1994. He was going ot dedicate the highway but canceled and his daughter Maureen came instead. Shortly thereafter it was disclosed he had Alzheimer's.
