Friends Stand By Cochran During Health Crisis
Hes the man behind O.J. Simpsons not guilty verdict, and he protected P. Diddy, but now Americas most famous celebrity lawyer, Johnnie Cochran, has a different fight on his ands. Extra got the emotional details straight from Cochrans former court TV co-host and friend, Nancy Grace.
My immediate response when my family called to tell me Johnnie was sick was to pray, Grace told us. I was deeply saddened. He and his wife have been friends for many years now.
What exactly ails Cochran remains a mystery. A spokesman revealed he is recovering from a neurological condition, and reports that Cochran is suffering from brain cancer have been denied.
In an interview with Extra in 2002, the legendary lawyer said that when it is his time, he knows what theyll write on his tombstone: If it doesnt fit, you must acquit, he said, adding, But hopefully Ive done a lot more than that.
Fortunately, Cochrans people say his condition is not life threatening, and his friends think hell be back on the docket in no time. Grace insisted, He will charm the nurses, the doctors, the illness, he can charm a bird out of a tree.
But in addition to his charm, friends believe that its Cochrans determination that will carry him through.
Show some class.
This is sad news!
I saw what he did for a kid on "Extreme Makeover Home Edition". Was a real treat for the kid. Johnny Cochran jumped a bunch of points in my eyes that day.
Nope. Too busy decomposing...
I didn't know he was ill. Prayers for his family.
I tried. It didn't take.
Okay, that was funny.
That is funny, say what you want about my sense of humor. I hope he was at peace with God.
Wow, from that story it didn't sound like a life threatening illness.
Too bad. He was a really smart guy.
What did he do for Extreme Home Makeover?
He was only, I think, 68. Shocking news for those of us who weren't aware he'd been ill.
If life don't fit, heart musta quit. Have fun back-slapping murderers in hell Johnnie...
sw
He let them go into his office, take his chair, books etc, all for a kid who wanted to be a lawyer to decorate his room. You should have seen the kids face. I was deeply touched by that.
