REPORT: Famed attorney Johnny Cochran died this afternoon in California following an extended illness... Developing...
I saw that episode and that too scored bonus points for him in my eyes....it is the only reality show that I watch...I hope he died in peace and I hope he is with God
Man was full of surprises. He was the attorney who represented Michael Jackson in the '93 child molestation charge and was instrumental in getting Geragos to handle the current case. Dan Abrams and Rikki Klayman couldn't sing his praises more highly tonight on MSNBC but unfortunately I can't get the bad taste out of my mouth over his antics during the OJ trial.
Who else recently died of a brain tumor?
When I die I would be grateful to have FReepers laughing and disrespecting me. It would mean that I had truly made it.
God be with his family and friends.. regardless of what I felt about him personally, everyone has someone who loves them and deserves comfort in a time like this.
May he rest in peace.
I believe that is up for God, not us humans to decide hmmmmm?
So now he's responsible for the entire mis(justice) system? Will you dance at the funeral of the lawyers who defended Timothy McVeigh?
And so little time.....
"Satanic cult known as criminal defense attorneys."
That's too strong a description. But I would agree that SOME criminal defense attorneys are Satanic. I don't know enough to say that Johnnie was one of these cases, but he was indeed a bad man. The sympathy for him on FReep is rather sickening.
O.J. never took the stand in the criminal trial...but he was depositioned over a ten day period and later took the stand in the civil trial, where Dan Petrocelli (Fred Goldman's attorney) ripped O.J.'s alibi to shreds.
I just finished re-reading some O.J. trial books last week. Cochran skillfully played the race card in the criminal trial and got his acquittal, but set back race relations in this country thirty years, IMO.
999,999 to go....
Defending a man guilty of double murder is hardly innocent. He will be judged and it wont be by Judge Lance Ito.
Yeah, and I'm sure his family and friends are worse off without him. So bloody what? Why are his family and friends any object of OUR concern? The question is whether society is better off without him. And I say, a resounding YES. I'm not one of those people who speaks with hatred of people simply because I disagree with them. Cochran was much worse than that. Good riddance to this cynical puke.
"Tiger Balm? Who told you to use the Tiger Balm?" LOL!
