Hillary Clinton slams GTA
GamesIndustry.biz

New York senator and former first lady Hillary Clinton has launched an attack on violent videogames, singling out Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto titles as a "major threat" to morality.

Clinton, who is reportedly planning to seek the Democratic presidential nomination for the 2008 election, has aligned herself with hardline right-wing Republican senators in order to pressure Congress into researching the impact of electronic media on children.

"Children are playing a game that encourages them to have sex with prostitutes and then murder them," she said in a statement on the issue. "This is a silent epidemic of media desensitisation that teaches kids it's OK to diss people because they are a woman, they're a different colour or they're from a different place."

She wants a $90 million investigation to be launched into the impact of games and other electronic media on the "cognitive, social, emotional and physical development" of children, according to a Sunday Times report.

Clinton has been joined in her attack on violent games by Republican senators Sam Brownback and Rick Santorum - the latter of whom is best known for his outspoken stance on homosexuality, which he is accused of comparing to bestiality in public statements.

American political analysts have noted that Clinton has taken on some increasingly right wing stances on domestic issues in recent months, in an effort to win support from traditionally Republican voters in the next presidential race, with videogames being merely the latest political kicktoy to be adopted by the ambitious senator.

You don't think they will actually dare talk like this through the next election?

My guess - the 180° change will last for a few years. Then the debates and plunging RAT poll numbers begin. The rest of the 180° spin is complete as they're forced to return to their roots. No problem...

DNCFAX TO ALL MEDIA:

We'd like to express our appreciation of the successful exertions of the media to protect the Democrat leadership from saying anything about the Schiavo case.

Maybe if they'd named the game "Grand Theft White House", Hillary would have been more receptive.

Abortion is a threat to morality. Yet, she will advocate you killing your unborn in heartbeat.

Wow! Maybe she'll get righteous enough to make a public statement about the 'hip-hop' genre of what's loosely referred to as 'music' these days. Anybody really sit down and read the 'lyrics' of some of that trash?

Of course, GTA is mostly about white boys playing their video games, so that's a lot safer than taking on what passes for Black 'culture'.

What about it, Senator?

GRANT THEFT INDEED!

Judicial Watch continues to probe the Pardongate scandal because evidence suggests Bill Clinton traded pardons for political favors. In the case of the FALN pardons, clearly the terrorists posed a serious threat to the national security of the United States. The well-documented goal of the FALN and MLN is to act as subversive agents within the borders of the United States.

At the very least, Clinton's decision to grant clemency to these dangerous and deadly individuals was an outrageous lapse in judgment. At worst, the pardons were carefully calculated to win votes for Hillary Clinton at the expense of the safety of American citizens. Judicial Watch will continue to investigate these pardons, and the other questionable pardons for criminals like Marc Rich that occurred two years later in the waning hours of the Clinton presidency.

If Hill is worried about major threats to morality she ought to step out of hiding and take a stand on a certain moral issue that has been the main subject of discussion for over a week.

No, she is still playing games. She is a joke, and so are those many activists that claimed she was "moderating". Current events prove that to be a lie.

Don't feel bad, grandma. I just went through the same thing with some of extended family this Easter. The little one (about 6) was playing Driv3r. Same theme, kill people, kill cops, run people down, take their cars, do it again. The problem was he was so into it! Don't know why parents don't pay attention to these things.

As with the military, wouldn't there some sort of age limit?

Would this be a good game for anyone? What kind of adult would want to play a game about stealing cars, having sex with prostitutes and murdering them?

You ARE kidding, right?

I think the game would be more acceptable if after raping the woman you suggest putting some ice on it.

Wow.

I'm pasting this one in my "funny s%^@" scrapbook!
