Some people who would be happy in an apartment get a house to make their dog happy. So the cheap Fido winds up costing them big indeed.
Single women who want to marry ought to at least get out of the house and circulate rather than sitting on their own green acre watching TV. In an apartment complex, they can go to the pool or gym and meet folks. There are some big advantages to apartment life.
When I lived in an apartment I do not think I once went to the pool or gym or for that matter meet any of my neighbors.
Not in any of the apartment complexes I lived in......I couldn't wait to get out of the last one I lived in.
By the time I was able to find an apartment that wasn't in a complex, but in a converted mansion, I was being escorted home every evening from work because there had been so many rapes in the complex.
But the big disadvantage is that you can never get ahead by paying rent. You need to buy a home ...Don't rent!!

Maybe for you. I dislike it. It's very noisy at all hours, I can't work on my car, I have to schedule my laundry duties at 1 or 2 AM so I can actually get a machine to use, parking is a freaking nightmare for anyone coming to visit, I can't make any changes to the interior space at all (no paint, no improvement in appliances).
Not to mention the apartment complex managers feel the need to leave little notices on our doors in plain view from the parking lot telling us about the 'community' activities. They usually do this on a Friday before a long weekend or a typical holiday to make sure any thieves cruising the parking lot can see who went away for the weekend.
sorry for the rant. :-)
I've had about all I can take. Time to move someplace where I can actually afford a house. *sigh*
Am I sensing some resentment here ... hmmm?
Like tissue thin walls, having 2 400lb people living above you, not having a yard, kids yelling in the parking lot, white walls and brown carpet only, creepy neighbors...
You can meet the fellas at the Home Depot or Lowe's while getting materials for home improvement ;)
LOL, that's why we bought a house. Couldn't get a dog without one...

Both of my brothers sat around saying they didn't want to pay interest on a loan...I took the plunge. They wound up priced way out of the market, while their friends were able to use equity to leverage their way into nice homes. After only a year, I used my equity to get the heck out of California. The only reasons not to buy a house is if prices are already dropping fast, you've ruined your credit and need to fix it, or you are pretty sure you're going to move around a lot.
