"I think Mr. Felos has some infatuation with death."
That's what Bobby Schindler, brother of Terri's Schiavo, now in her 12th day of court-ordered starvation, said on Fox News' "Hannity and Colmes" last night.
He was commenting on claims made by attorney George Felos, long-time counsel of Terri's estranged husband Michael Schiavo, that Terri looked "beautiful" as she lay dying.
While virtually all other eyewitnesses described the dying brain-injured woman as "gaunt," "drawn," "struggling" and "fighting like hell" for life, Felos described Terri as "beautiful" and "peaceful" to reporters during a Saturday press conference:
"She is calm, she is peaceful, she is resting comfortably. ... Her lips are not chapped, they're not bleeding. Her skin's not peeling. Frankly when I saw her ... she looked beautiful. In all the years I've seen Mrs. Schiavo, I've never seen such a look of peace and beauty upon her."
Following the controversial press conference, TV pundits debated the propriety of Felos's remarks and his unusual characterization of a person starving to death as emanating "beauty."
One explanation for Felos' comments is suggested in the attorney's own 2002 book, "Litigation As Spiritual Practice." In one passage, Felos, a longtime volunteer hospice worker, says he promised one patient he would "do everything in my power" to bring her life to an end.
The patient was Estelle Browning, focal point of a landmark "right-to-die" case. Browning, profoundly debilitated by a stroke, had been confined to a nursing home for over a year and a half when Mrs. Herbert, her cousin and caregiver, sought to have Browning's feeding tube removed, in accordance with her living will. Felos took the case.
Recalling his first encounter with Browning, Felos writes: "'Mrs. Browning, do you want to die? ... Do you want to die?' I near shouted as I continued to peer into her pools of strikingly beautiful but incognizant blue. It was so eerie. Her eyes were wide open and crystal clear, but instead of the warmth of lucidity, they burned with the ice of expressionlessness."
In Chapter 8, titled "Soul-Speak," Felos describes a psychic communication between him and the "vegetative" Browning, during which he promised to "help" her leave this earthly life. The narrative describes a strange, spiritual experience of some sort:
As I continued to stay beside Mrs. Browning at her nursing home bed, I felt my mind relax and my weight sink into the ground. I began to feel light-headed as I became more reposed. Although feeling like I could drift into sleep, I also experienced a sense of heightened awareness. As Mrs. Browning lay motionless before my gaze, I suddenly heard a loud, deep moan and scream and wondered if the nursing home personnel heard it and would respond to the unfortunate resident. In the next moment, as this cry of pain and torment continued, I realized it was Mrs. Browning.
I felt the mid-section of my body open and noticed a strange quality to the light in the room. I sensed her soul in agony. As she screamed I heard her say, in confusion, 'Why am I still here why am I here?' My soul touched hers and in some way I communicated that she was still locked in her body. I promised I would do everything in my power to gain the release her soul cried for. With that the screaming immediately stopped. I felt like I was back in my head again, the room resumed its normal appearance, and Mrs. Browning, as she had throughout this experience, lay silent.
I knew without a doubt what had transpired was real and dispelled the thought as intellects attempt to assert its own version of reality.
Despite saturation press coverage of the Terri Schiavo case, Felos's New Age spirituality has not emerged as an issue. However, as Richard Land, head of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission said to the St. Petersburg Times, the Terri Schiavo case represents a "clash of two very disparate civilizations the Judeo-Christian civilization, which is based upon the sanctity of human life, and the neopagan, relativist, quality-of-life civilization."
Adds James A. Smith Sr., executive editor of the Florida Baptist Witness: "Both worldviews are in play in the Schiavo debate and it's long past time for the public to understand this."
Bizarre.
What does Felos take us for - come now, really.

I saw the press conference where he said this. Not one reporter pressed him about his attitude and statements. No one in the press had apparently looked up his background. He went on and on and let me tell you, he is really a creepy person who was saying quite bizarre things, and the press just listened without any substantive comment.
Can you imagine casting your lot in with this ghoul like some have done? Unbelievable! And those who have want to be respected?
In Britain, you can get up to 14 years in prison for committing euthanasia. I suggest Felos needs to be a "prison bitch" for at least that amount of time, given his role in this miscarriage of justice.
Regards, Ivan
Felos is laughing all the way to the bank, he got over $400,000.00 of the settlement money that was supposed to be used for her rehabilitation. Of course, he considers death the perfect rehab.
I saw a little bit of this on the news and I have caught him at times on other news bites. He oozes sleaze.
The only thing I need now is a doll made in the image of Felos and some hat pins to stick in it. Any idea where I can get one? My dog is getting tired of being kicked.
Stay tuned. Tomorrow we will slay the dragon. Judge Greer. You won't want to miss it.
Sounds like he needs to be institutionalized for a few years, and let the Doctors figure out what is wrong with his brain.
Hey Felos..I found another "useless feeder"!!! Call out the guards!!!

Potential Corpses?
Felos = Dracula at law
imo
From your link to Amazon and Felos' book, 'Litigation as Spiritual Practice' I have, if the Mods permit, cut and pasted one reviewers comments:
As I read Death Merchant George Felos new age "spiritual" journal, I could not help but think his is one sick mind, a Charlie Mason with a law degree, who is in love with death and killing the helpless and needy, mostly through the cruel process of starvation and dehydration. One can imagine him listening for hours on end the ghastly and hideous music celebrating serial killing, perhaps, a fan of Cannibal Corpses. His view on the Nazi period and holocaust are absolutely ignorant and bizarre, writing, " "The Jewish people, long ago in their collective consciousness, agreed to play the role of the lamb whose slaughter was necessary to shock humanity into a new moral consciousness. Their sacrifice saved humanity at the brink of extinction and propelled us into a new age."
The new age moral consciousness was for him to become fervent a worshipper of Death, and proclaim a right to kill in the mantle of Mercy, and he was going to be the Grand Guru of that Death Cult. Anyone familiar with King's Row will know that Dr. Henry Gordon was a maniacal serial killer with a degree in medicine. Felos is one with a law degree. He is obsessed with killing and thoughts of killing. He wants to kill his clients, his wife, and infirmed, and most recently a poor innocent woman. About his erstwhile wife, he wrote, "I was on fire, fueled by thoughts of bludgeoning and tearing her apart."
His favorite method of choice is to kill through a cruel process of deprivation of food and water, but most appalling of all, he wants to do his killing with the permission of the state, and in our names. He wants Judges, and court orders and cowardly politicians to sanction his desires to kill in our name. This is how he differs from killers like Mason, and Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Jack Kevorkian was a killer of people who had become hopelessly despondent with their lives.
This Death Merchant with a law degree also has the power to channel with those who are unable to speak for themselves. Strangely, they all tell him the same thing, "Kill me and make lots of money doing it."
In one truly ghastly passage, Felos describes his "spiritual exchanged with the late Estelle Browning. "I carried with me the resolute determination to sever the artificial cord that bound Estelle Browning to this earthly realm. Her agonized cry for release ran though my mind over and over again, and I felt our spiritual bond." This ghoulish death lover is obviously a person with serious mental problems who hears, like Manson and the Son of Sam, mysterious voices in his head urging him onward to terminate life.
One is kind of reminded of Stanton Carlisle of the movie Nightmare Alley, who kills a man, and then is haunted by voices in his head as he attempts to become more and more like a God on earth until finally he falls and ends up stark raving mad as a Geek in his own private Nightmare Alley.
The Death Merchant states that his "spiritual journey" is to make the entire nation a Nightmare Alley that stands by helpless to prevent his extermination of life under the sanction of the state and covered in the sugar coated euphemism of easy death. It is interesting that the lesson he learned about the Nazi Holocaust is that you have to make your chosen victims into something less than human. In his court actions in the Schiavo execution, Felos convinced a pitiless beast and ghoulish Judge that Terri was something less than a human and more like a stick of wood. She may seem alive, and may seem to breath and may seem to feel pain and all those attributes that make one human, but she is really something else, a kind of zombie, without any human attributes other than physical appearance. It is okay by him and Judge Ghoul to let her die of dehydration and starvation because she is just a zombie who is more like a stick of wood.
Most recently, Death Merchant Felos made comments on the dying, wasting body of Terri Schiavo, saying she had a "'look of beauty and peace" about her. His subsequent descriptions of her condition were empirically and scientifically impossible under the method used to bring about her death, saying she had "no chap lips, no cracking skin, laying comfortable in bed, in blissful state," on on and on.
This is a really sick, sick mind that is in love with images of pornographic death. One can only describe this kind of person a criminal and despicable but he is an author just like JACK HENRY ABBOTT, another killer.
The bottom line about this funky book is how incredibly stupid, pitiless and cruel it is, and we can see that by what this man is putting the nation through right now.
"When I used to read fairy tales, I fancied that kind of thing never happened, and now here I am in the middle of one!" -- Alice in Wonderland.
It was a story explaining how Terri and the Schindlers were outgunned early on by Michael's high priced lawyers, they were beaten by the lawyers from the very beginning of litigation. . It mentioned that the Schindlers even had a hard time finding a lawyer to take their case (vecause of money), and when they did, the lawyer was not real familiar with the "end of life" law, and was spun in circles by Felos.
Can anyone remember what thread that was? I'm dying to read it again. I went to Newsmax and can't find it today.
Help!
Fine. So let him kill himself but leave the rest of humanity alone. What a loonie. Why isn't he in jail like Kervorkian??
I don't know what was so "controversial" about his news conference. I forced myself to watch to try and get ammo to fight with. All I saw was the journalists in attendance lapping it up, adoring him, worshipping at his feet. It was the "perfect storm" for satan.
No, it's not. But, the one you have is better.
The other one was basically about the fact that Terri's parents' lawyers just were outmatched from the very beginning. But yours look great. Thank you very much!
