What makes me mad about this case is that if the life side of the argument can not win this one, then the euthanasia mills have a green light to go for it.
The particulars so Terry case were made to order for the life side. adulterous husband, loving family willing to take on the burden, no recent medical exams, nurses deputing PVS, no living will, etc. Losing this fight is I fear losing the war to prevent euthanasia as an accepted practice in the USA. Just like row v wade opened the door on abortion. And to top it all off the entire government top to bottom is controlled by the GOP.
I think the life side is well within their right to be livid with rage, Jeb after got us into this fight when he called a press conference to CLAIM the right to slap down an idiot judge and save Terry, hero, when he turned tail and ran.
reminds me of the battle in brave heart when the urn coat Scots left Mel Gibson to die on the battlefield.
TigersEye, until I see you handcuffed at the hospice on the evening news, your patting yourself on the back rings rather hollow.
The productivity of our exchange was terminated a long time ago. Carry on if you like, but do it alone.
Buh bye!
I could be mistaken, but I think the man doing the autopsy was appointed by Governor Bush sometime back.
You are not in the minority, OhioWfan.
Some on this thread have very small Faith.
And Wisdom shows itself by speech - Ecclesiasticus 4:23.
On fox, a talking polling head said that never has he seen such a divide. by that the country is split down the middle and feelings run deep, very deep. Each side is dug in. Which is why the politicians are in hiding. Some leaders we got huh?
he was, or so I read.
Coming from someone who has been dogging the Terri Schiavo threads with a bias against Terri on all points I'll take that with a grain of salt.
My bias isn't against Terri, it's against posters on these threads like you, and all the irrationality and lack of logic that goes along with these comments.
Ironically, had Jeb Bush rode to the rescue and risked "erring on the side of life" to do the right thing, he would have indeed been a hero. He would also have made himself a legitimate front-runner for the GOP Presidential nomination anytime he wanted it.
Instead, he came up puny and threw it all down the toilet, as he allowed himself to get slapped down by some smarmy county probate judge. The American people will never elect someone they see as weak.
I cannot for the life of me figure out why Jeb threw it all away.
I suspect there is more to this story than meets the eye.
They are a disappointment. A deep disappointment.
Now we have the group of people who fear disabled people with be euthanized. It's a disgrace that people should fear that. I told my husband that to be alone and maybe not understanding all the issues and listening to Rush and Laura who are fueling those flames, must be very frightening.
And on the other side, there are people like me who think they do understand the issues and fear that Congress will interfere even more in our lives (since when did conservatives like that) and our right to self determination will be taken away.
If ever there was an issue that could make me turn away from politics, this is it. And I'm trying very hard not to give up.
ungreatfulness = ungratefulness
I am a bit curious in your Biblical worldview as to how you would justify the American Revolution. God did not
'grant' the British subjects who rebelled against established authority of the day the right to foment rebellion against the legally established government of the day, did He? What part of scripture said that the "vigilantism" (Boston Tea Party) of the 30% of the American colonists who desired to form their own government would have the blessing of the Almighty?
I guess if enough people do it it is no longer considered "vigilantism"...
I am a bit disappointed that the executives of the Federal and State government felt that they are subservient to the Judiciary branch. If two of the branches agree, they may over-ride the third branch, with the voters ultimately resolving any disputes between the branches of their elected and appointed government.

Since now. And the others here are correct that it will only get worse.
I think Jeb saw he was in a tight spot and asked W for help. W said sure no problem, congress did it's thing, W his and W thought the deal was done. then who would believe it the probate judge, a lowly two bit probate judge said screw you to W, Jeb and congress. Too late for Jeb to move, polls turn bad and the DC crowd decided the fight was not worth it leaving Jeb in his last term and not interested in politics anymore, to take the heat.
/tinfoil hat.
I bet anything that the 'save Terri' side is considerably more passionate and "dug in" than the 'murder Terri' side.
I'll bet not, here is why, most, and test this at work tomorrow, think Terry is in a coma and on life support. They are outraged that gvernment would attempt to force sure a person to linger on in such a stay for who knows how many years. If and when the facts of the case ever get out, the kill Terry numbers will drop like a rock.
Here's something that might make you feel better. Although Jeb has not stormed the hospice, apparently the locals are scared he might. Judge Greer is barricaded behind armed guards at his home, the hospice is guarded by cops, and the neighboring school was evacuated today and 500 children went elsewhere. They are quaking in their boots, if that is any comfort to you. Besides, Jessie Jackson is coming tomorrow. He will fix everything.
