I don't want to be a hotlinker, but no matter which side of this you're on, you'll have to admit that this is the funniest take on this case yet - and it's aimed squarely at us.

I believe that Terri will be with those of us that cared after her passing with all my heart.

The Lord has a plan even in times of sorrow.

It may be time to start sending the message before any more divisions occur.

There are some that are just now entering this debate.

Not sure how we will console them or even try to explain all that has transpired but God's grace needs to be upon this place.

God Bless you for caring.

"the wolves thin the herd"

Well, the point of this case is that it's not just about Terri. This is happening in various places--Cruzan, etc. It'll just have the force of precedent now.

"What is the purpose of government regarding life?"

Pre-birth or after a true human being is born, but is not using artificial means to be sustained? In other words, Habeus Corpus really can apply to dead people now, or, the ones we apparently want to be dead--like the disabled or infirm, severely injured, aged, etc.

It's beyond the pale.

Absolutely. They get their cue from Hillary when they use that term. Vast Right Wing..... Religous Nut.

I am with you on all accounts. Strange, this is what conservatives believe in and yet we get the opposite view from them. I guess we can deduct something here...from whence they come. :)

we must protect the rights of the weakest amoung us, other wise we will all lose our rights as the wolves thin the heard.

Well said.

I don't know why it is so hard for people to accept that this is a very dangerous slippery slope.

Perhaps the clear medical view that this would cause nothing but choking.

The medical record on this case is as clear as mud. What "clear" medical view, which doctor testified to that and which medical journal reviewed that conclusion?

It is laughable that someone who is putting his wife to death by starvation is worried about choking risks.

This is funny. But I'd venture to guess that before a week or two some perhaps famous and professional comedians will be roundly booed for trying to address this issue with even an ounce of levity. Unless you're as careful as a heart implant surgeon with comedy, this issue is strictly off limits.

The fallout from that battle will split the Republican party for decades. It will probably do the same with the Democrats, but that bunch is so fractured to begin with, that no one will ever be sure.

Yeah, you might end up with a situation like the early 1800's to the beginning of the Civil War where you had 3, 4 or 5 parties. Myself, I can't fathom on how there are Republicans being so callous with Terri's life and acting like Inspector Gerard from the 1960's TV series, "The Fugitive." I remember Gerard was so big on making the law the supreme god, no matter the circumstance. The rule of law is broken and simply, I cannot support such a system until it is fixed or replaced.

Terri has won... she will be with God. Of that, I am assured by the Scriptures.

Afterall, THAT is the only victory she really needs.

Those who fought to save her, may have failed on this earth... but their efforts to help her live and their kindnesses to her, will be rewarded by a HIGHER AUTHORITY than Congress, politicians and the courts.

Satan wants us to despair over her death. I will not despair, I will praise God for just the mere opportunity to serve and help one of these helpless ones.

END OF DISCUSSION. Good night.

Perhaps the clear medical view that this would cause nothing but choking.

Even if there were a 99% chance that it would cause choking, and a 0.5% chance that Terri would be able to receive nutrition and hydration orally, what legitimate rationale would there be for denying the attempt under the circumstances?

The Schiavo case may well end the GOP's status as a big tent party or, at a minimum, has at least ended the Bush family's dominance of Republican ranks. Think about a parallel problem on the other side. Imagine a situation in San Francisco where minority group gangs viciously attacked the Castro District and killed or injured many homosexuals in a riot. Let's assume that in the aftermath the "gay" leadership wanted harsh prosecution of the rioters. No doubt Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and the other usual suspects would complain of racism. The Democrats on a state and national basis would be in a quandry on how to please two sets of partisan allies with quite divergent agendas.

This is what happened with regard to the Schiavo matter. Jeb Bush, the Republicans in Congress, and George Bush (to some extent) tried to stride the middle ground, or at least did not challenge the de facto judicial supremacy in the Federal and state governments. Resultantly, they alienated a large portion of the social conservatives even though their legalistic rationales pleased the RINOs and secular conservatives.

I only hope the aftermath of this situation is not Democratic victories in 2006 and 2008.

W W K D ? (what would Kerry do)

I will tell you what Kerry could not do. He could not turn his back on the religious conservatives that turned out in vast numbers to support the Republican party just a few months ago; and, He could not turn his back on the legal constructionist which the Republicans have been depending on to push through "judicial reform". He could not, because he never had the support of those constituencies.

Ever since this case popped up we have been given nothing but a snowjob by the Bush brothers. It has been truely disgusting in subject, in result, and in comportment. The facts in this case will continue to develop, and the lame excuse that "we have done all we can" will be a proven an absolute lie within weeks. This is just the tip of the iceberg, no one has all of the information, and most are going to be shocked and disgusted as this thing continues to developed.

""If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest for freedom, go home and leave us in peace. We seek not your council nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." --Samuel Adams

Wow!

I like that Paul. May add it to my home page.
