Demand Schiavo Investigation: Sample Letter to Send to Medical Examiner
Association of American Physicians and Surgeons ^ | March 28, 2005 | Association of American Physicians and Surgeons

Posted on 03/28/2005 1:42:09 PM PST by eartotheground

Jon R. Thogmartin, M.D., District Chief Medical Examiner 10900 Ulmerton Rd., Largo FL 33778 Telephone #. (727) 582-6800 Fax # (727) 582-6820 mailto:wpellan@co.pinellas.fl.us

Dear Dr. Thogmartin:

When Terri Schiavo dies, the potential exists that a crime will be covered up by her planned cremation without autopsy. That potential crime is NOT the issue at the center of the present controversy, but the yet unsubstantiated allegation that an assault led to her condition in the first place.

It has been reported in the press that Michael Schiavo intends to cremate Terri Schiavo immediately upon her death.

According to the Medical Examiner's department policy posted at: http://www.co.pinellas.fl.us/forensics/policy/policystatement.htm#CA , the medical examiner must approve or deny all such requests.

The attending physician in Terri Schiavo's case has a history of 5 NPDB reported malpractice cases. There is an open quesiton of what led to her original "event".

Please disallow the cremation until the medical examiner's office can perform an appropriate investigation and/or postmortem examination to determine both the immediate cause of death AND the proximate cause of death, including the search for any injuries from the past consistent with a potential crime.

Despite the currently accepted rationale for her initial “event”, evidence on postmortem examination may reveal that Terri Schiavo was the victim of a crime many years ago.

Judge Greer has not allowed an MRI or PET Scan. PET scans are of no value post mortem, but MRI may have some limited benefit, in addition to the physical autopsy, particularly for small, old injuries to ligaments and muscles that would be consistent with a trauma that occurred due to a crime (e.g. strangulation or abuse) if one had occurred.

If there are perpetrators of a crime covering something up, they will not want such an examination done. They will be afraid of justice.

Please act now to assure no authorization is given for cremation without a proper investigation and autopsy to address these issues.

Sincerely,

There will be an autopsy.

There was never not going to be an autopsy.

She has been dead for years no matter how long some want to prolong this pitiful, horrifying existence and call it a "life." It isn't. A minimal physiological process is not Life.

The judge in this case is NOT a liberal but IS a conservative, a conservative who actually takes the law seriously rather than just go with the mob. But facts mean nothing to you and the mob.

.. MS cannot get the courts to block an autopsy

Which is why the irresponsible rantings about "there isn't going to be an autopsy on orders of Michael Schiavo" has been beyond ridiculous. Of course there was always going to be one. That seems patently obvious.

I asked you for proof of your statements that a doctor stated 12 years ago that Terri gone. It was never stated by ANYONE until Schaivo started trying to kill her in 97. If it was, where's your proof? I gave you a link from '91 that says she speaks.

Nope! It won't work because Greer ORDERED her death, and EVERYONE (e.g., the entire world) knows that she simply died of hunger and thirst !!!

Besides... the entire administration is thoroughly and completely gutless in this matter. No danger to them if they allow the judges order to proceed to the end of Terri's life !!!

Next case...

Could anyone please explain this?

1. The original diagnosis for Terri's death was nutritional deficiency/bulemia.

2. Later that was debunked when MS won the law suit for an incorrect diagnosis, IIRC

3. Now, Schiavo supporters and the media are again bringing this up as the cause of her "collapse."

Ok...the question - and assuming that the above was the cause:

1. Bulemia is, basically, a psychological disorder. Bulemics have a very poor self image, they feel they need to be perfect, many are never cured because the psychosis is so deep.

2. In that state of psychologically connected obcession, how could anyone's comment, about such a serious issue as life support could be considered rational?

3. Most medical professionals agree that those afflicted with this disorder are not mentally healthy.

4. How can any legal system support the desires of a woman who was, evidently, psychologically unbalanced at the time of the "supposed" comment?

Inquiring minds want to know!!!!

Because this case has nothing to do with being Pro-Life. It is normal medical practice performed hundreds, if not thousands, of times every day. When one has watched one they love go through misery like this they can see the inhumanity of prolonging that existent.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. That has to be real hard for you and your family to go through.

Yes, it's not a long stretch for the liberal judges to say now that any of us that can't physically feed ourselves have to starve. Like your poor grandmother. Or my sister, who had ALS and did have a feeding tube and ventilator for her last 3 months. I know those 3 months meant a lot to her and she fought to have them.

Because this case has nothing to do with being Pro-Life.

This has everything to do with being pro-life. Being pro-life means believing life is sacred.

When one has watched one they love go through misery like this they can see the inhumanity of prolonging that existent.

What misery? I thought you believed she was PVS?

It is normal medical practice performed hundreds, if not thousands, of times every day.

inhumanity of prolonging that existent

And there we have the rationalization of murder.

4. How can any legal system support the desires of a woman who was, evidently, psychologically unbalanced at the time of the "supposed" comment?

Because the whole purpose is to kill Terri. Michael, Felos, and Greer know that their entire case is a pack of lies. Terri never wanted to be starved to death, and she isn't PVS. But since Michael uses his role as guardian to control all the evidence, he can claim she said anything he wants and he can claim her condition to be anything he wants.

Normally, I'd agree.

But Pinellas County, an established urban area, sounds a lot like a small southern county seat 30 and 40 years ago.

The relationships in the local govt were incestuous then...and they'll likely remain incestuous now.

I can easily picture this ME saying "Golly, I sure don't have the authority nor right to ask for an autopsy" and then ignores everything.

It is normal medical practice performed hundreds, if not thousands, of times every day.

The purpose of giving food is to prevent starvation or malnutrition. The purpose of giving water is to prevent dehydration. Such care is futile when, and only when, it is either unnecessary (the person is in no apparent danger of starvation or dehydration) or would be ineffective (giving food or water would not prevent starvation/dehydration).

What is objectionable in Terri's case is that there is no evidence whatsoever that food and water would not perform their intended function. Further, the evidence that Terri is unable to swallow is hardly sufficient to justify forbidding all efforts to give food and water by mouth. Unless, of course, the goal is to avoid the risk that she might survive if fed orally.

Your kidding right? HINO wants an autopsy! Guess he wants to clear himself of any possible law suits, wrongful death suits, and possible criminal charges. Thig is old injuries will still be there! Also, I have a feeling we are going to learn more about Terri's brain when she gets an autopsy.

Forget this. If Michael NO LONGER fears an autopsy, and FELOS has the medical examiner ALREADY HAND-PICKED, the results are guaranteed to be WORTHLESS!!!!

Write your letters everyone to JEB BUSH.

HE has to send his own CSI/ M.E. type guys in

Exactly, HINO just wants to appear like he supports this by asking for one even know we all know there would be one anyways!

Judge Greer has ordered the cremation IMMEDIATELY upon Terri's death and you know what he says is gospel. Greer is the god of this world.

Look, I have a living will.

And there's more. When an old high school friend was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and was frightened she would die a horribly painful death, I drove to her town and helped her get a living will (and 6 notarized copies) , and made an appointment so she and I could visit her local hospice. There she was assured that the end of her life didn't have to be painful.

And there's more -- I slept on the floor of my father's hospital room, at his request, to make sure he wasn't hooked up to machines. He wanted to die a natural death. He didn't want his misery extended. He had his last meal about 6 hours before he died. We didn't kill him. We were allowed to protect him. He died with dignity.

What they're doing with Terri is killing her. And that's something we as a society have to decide on. I'm not ready to let a judge decide that innocent people can be put to death. It's the slipperiest of slippery slopes. And cultures who have made the wrong choice, the choice that some innocent lives are not as worthy as others, are cultures that generally become nightmares. We have the time to debate. The "judges" are not our betters. In our type of culture they work for us.

Do you really believe we can kill undesirables? Without consequesnces?

She has been dead for years no matter how long some want to prolong this pitiful, horrifying existence and call it a "life." It isn't. A minimal physiological process is not Life.
