Schiavo’s father makes emotional appeal
Philadelphia Inquirer ^ | 3/28/05 | Sandy Bauers

PINELLAS PARK, FL -- Bob Schindler, the father of severely brain-damaged Terri Schiavo, said his daugher is "begging for help," and so is her family.

Now in her 11th day without food or water after her feeding tube was removed under court order on March 18, Schiavo is "failing," he said, but nevertheless "fighting like hell to live."

Although "emaciated," Schiavo is "still communicating," Schindler said, "... And she's responding to me."

Schindler spoke to reporters shortly before 1 p.m. outside the Woodside Hospice, where Schiavo is being cared for.

Several days ago, a family spokesman reported that Terri's mother, Mary Schindler, was so upset at her daughter's appearance that she because physically ill at the bedside. Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler, said that her condition was so alarming he was suggesting his parents not go see her.

Bob Schindler said today that he was "scared to death to go in to see her, for fear of what I'd see." But, he said, "she has amazing endurance, what she's been through for this past week. And it's incredible to see how she's acting."

David Gibbs, the family lawyer, had said earlier that Schiavo was past the point that she could have her feeding tube reinserted, but the family disputed it.

Gibbs also said she was receiving morphine. Schindler said he had "a grave concern that they'll expedite the process to kill her with an overdose of morphine."

Legal options seem to have run out for the Schindlers. But Schindler called again upon government leaders and the courts to intervene.

"I plead again that the powers that be don't give up on her," he said. "She has to be saved. She has to be saved. And it can be done. And we plead for her."

now those same people are going to start painting Bob and Mary Schindler as crackpots.

I sense that some of the MSM is pulling away, now that they think the Schindlers have lost.

I wish the MSM would investigate Terri's intent at the time she allegedly said "No tubes."

Maybe Terri said, "no tubes."...

  1. to make someone else feel less remorseful about having removed a respirator from a relative
  2. because no one warned her that the words would really be her death warrant.
  3. because she was depressed. (We don't kill depressed people just because they say they are a "burden.")
  4. because she forgot she had the "right to remain silent" and to have a "lawyer present."
  5. because her erratic life with job-hopping Michael was driving her crazy

I with you on that yellowdoghunter...some of these people have a hard heart. To bad for them, since it takes a good mind and heart to walk with God...

Here's a question that I know has probably been asked on the forum, but when she dies and with all of the questions about the circumstances that brought her to this point, could there be a homicide investigation?

It seems that the local police (perhaps, the sheriff's office specifically) is in cahoots with Michael Schavio's side of the argument. I don't know the laws with regards to the autopsy (and I don't know what the autopsy would reveal), but the autopsy seems like it should be done.

Course, I think that the facts about how Terri came to be in this medical condition are going to die with her. Because, as I have read, there are only 2 ways in which she could have suffered the initial injury:

1. From an existing medical condition; or,
2. Being suffocated (or having the blood cut off)

And, from what I have read, there was no detected or even suspected medical condition that could have induced the injury that Terri suffered, based on her prior medical history. And, barring an undiagnosed medical condition, which is certainly possible, the 2nd option seems possible.

Not to mention that if she would have continued to receive the therapy she was receiving, she would have continued to progress, as she had already been.

But, up until this point, no investigtion, no conclusion, no nothing.

Michael Schavio wants Terri to die, whether by her own wish's or his. Either way, the truth dies with her.

Me too. Just don't understand it. If Islamicists take over the judiciary someday and begin stoning people to death out behind the courthouse, will the executive and legislative branches turn a blind eye because they want to avoid a constitutional crisis? Jesus Christ! The gutlessness we're seeing in this case is sickening.

If she said it all all, it's entirely possible she was just saying what everyone around her was saying. People do that, especially to avoid arguments involving controversial subjects.

But I don't believe she said it, period. These people are just stone-cold liars.

"That being said...what exact action would he like to be taken?"

You might begin with prayer for God's little one Terri Schiavo. Then if it's not too much maybe email the Bush brothers and ask them to intervene. In other words, do what you would do if Terri were your little girl.

"And whoever gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward." - (MATHEW 10:42)
"Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me." (MARK 9:37)
"So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish". (Mathew 18:14)

I want to see a good ol' fashioned federal raid on that Hospice. Get her out of that hell hole!!!

Maybe you could get Janet Reno to lead the effort. You liked it so well when she did it for E. Gonzales. Gestapo, I think thats to what they were likened.

Does anyone know if dehydration could be reducing the spinal fluid in her brain, and actually making her more alert?

She never got a shunt.

Yep, but he is worse than Pontius Pilate, in that he signed the law which is allowing Terri to be killed.

The parents have said stop. When will the parents wishes finally be allowed either by the courts or by the public?

A sad ping to the cold hard heart breaking truth.

Wondering if other families of patients in that hospice, have considered removing them and placing them in a hospice that will actually follow the doctors orders. To do what's in the best interest of the patient. Not to follow the orders of a husband, by withholding treatment and who has led a well orchestrated plan to murder his wife.

Terri Schiavo Before dehydration

God Bless you Terri in your hour of death

Let everyone who said your beautiful smile was fake be haunted by it for the rest of their days.

The lesson in all this is not to trust your fate to the legal system, medical system, political system -- and certainly not the media, if one wants a rational outcome. It means a need for greater self-sufficiency and self-reliance, which begins of course, by making better discriminations and decisions.

Generally, it is not a good idea to marry the first and only person one ever dates. And then when the marriage goes bad, it's not a waste of the years put into it, to get out of it, at whatever cost, or it could cost you your life. There are no guarantees of a happy outcome -- no matter what the demagogues promise. We all take our best shot and make the best from what we know.

Let her will to live, inspire us to make the most of our own lives.
