MIAMI (AP) - Burger King began offering two new breakfast sandwiches Monday, including one that packs more calories and fat than a Whopper.
The Enormous Omelet Sandwich carries 730 calories and 47 grams of fat and comes with two eggs, sausage, three strips of bacon and two slices of melted American cheese on a bun. It's heftier than a Whopper hamburger, which weighs in at 700 calories and 42 grams of fat.
Officials at Miami-based Burger King Corp. said that healthier choices are also available, but surveys showed customers wanted bigger sandwiches.
"By expanding our indulgent breakfast sandwich menu, Burger King restaurants now offer even more alternatives for our guests who want a convenient and filling breakfast," said Russ Klein, Burger King's chief global marketing officer.
The other new breakfast item, the Western Omelet Croissanwich, is a lighter pick with 320 calories and 17 grams of fat. It has fire-grilled onions, ham and melted American cheese inside a folded egg on a croissant.
The omelet sandwich will stay on the menu at about $2.99, but the Western sandwich is in stores until May 8.
Eat the top ONLY. That's what I do. Always make sure you order an extra-large so that there's enough to fill you up.
I know where I'm goin' for breakfast tomorrow! :^)
Sounds great!
Anyone want to join me for breakfast at B.K. tomorrow?
You're not missing anything. The quality of the bread in BK buns is just awful. As soon as juices from the burger hit this material, it turns to a slimy paste and literally disintegrates in your hands. Yuck.
Yea - we can make all the vegetarians sit and watch!
Thats true.
Can't find the Western Omelet Croissan'wich on the BK site, but they list an egg, ham & cheese croissan'wich--25 carbs (22 carbs in the croissant).
De-bun that puppy and I'm all over it. Hey, it's low-carb. :)
And if I ever do decide to fall off my low-carb diet, I know where I'm going to do it!

I wish we had Hardee's here in Texas. We picked up one of their low carb burgers while on vacation---it was fantastic!
Why the hell would anyone take a perfectly good omelet and put bread around it?
We should get hold of some BK coupons for a few of these things, and send them to Judge Greer in Florida. Ordering people to be starved to death really works up an appetite, and something like this is sure to hit the spot!
Oh, BABY that looks good!
That means only 23% of the calories are from carbs. Not too bad.
Mmm...massively delicious coronary.
(Drools expectantly.)
Where's the girl on the mechanical bull?
Removing the calories from fat and carbs, I get appx. 34 g of protein, too. Skip the bun, and you've got a nice 4 carb breakfast (though it is higher in fat than I'd like, even on low-carb).
Still too many carbs for a low carb diet. If you dump the bun then you massively lower the carbs.
