Lanny Davis: Wrong to Starve Terri
NewsMax ^ | 3/27/05 | Carl Limbacher

While former first couple Bill and Hillary Clinton have refused to say anything that might help save Terri Schiavo's life, a senior member of their administration strongly condemned Michael Schiavo and the courts Saturday night for starving her to death.

"In this situation on a personal and moral level, I go with the parents who are willing to take care of this young woman," former White House Counsel Lanny Davis told Fox News Channel's Geraldo Rivera. "And I cannot comprehend why this husband is standing in their way."

"I see no reason why the rule of law, or in this case, [why] there shouldn't be an exception to that rule," Davis said, adding that Michael "can't convince me that he's certain of this tragic woman's wishes."

"I have no comprehension as to where he gets his anger from. He's even denied their request for a final Communion," he complained.

The former Clinton counsel even defended last week's attempt by Congress to save Terri, calling it a bipartisan humanitarian effort.

"I hope everybody realizes that Tom Harkin stood up along with Tom DeLay," he noted.

He sure was "concerned" about Vincent Foster, Ron Brown, et al.

It's possible that the Clintonistas have figured out that Terri's death could have very negative implications for the left

*****

Agreed. There is bound to be some backlash on this.

where was she during the clinton years? Where was she last week?

Odd that the clintonistas start to appear when the courts offer no more hope to terri.

This is ghoulish. If clinton were president he would be in pinelas park for "face time."

Yes, I had thought of that. But my question went to spiritual meanings.

IMHO, it's all spin on his part. Same as it ever was:

Former Clinton White House counsel Lanny Davis fueled speculation on Thursday that he personally leaked the news that former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger was under criminal investigation by the Justice Department, by repeatedly dodging the question.

Asked point-blank if he was the leaker, Davis refused to respond directly, but instead told Liberty Broadcasting's Linda Chavez that if he had asked a reporter the same question, the answer would be "None of your business." When Chavez pressed for a straight answer, Davis suggested he would have leaked the news last year to Associated Press reporter John Solomon, who actually did break the story on Monday.

"Had I been asked last October by my old friend Sandy Berger," Davis told Chavez, "I would have suggested to Sandy that we call John Solomon and that he sit down with John Solomon and tell him the whole story and get the story out last October."

In the next breath Davis said he wasn't surprised that "somebody" had leaked news of the Berger investigation on "this particular week out of 52 weeks in 2004."

Suspicions that Davis was the source of the Berger leak surfaced on Tuesday, when the National Review Online's Mark Levin noted in his column:

"Lanny Davis's tactics of leaking bad information in order to control the media spin is clearly in play, if not by him, by others. But he is now a prominent voice pointing a finger at purported Bush motives.

"The Berger story first appeared in the Associated Press, and was written by John Solomon, whom Davis reveals in his book as his favorite reporter. In addition to Davis, the usual Clinton propagandists are involved as well Lanny Breuer and Joe Lockhart."

If you can stomach the antics of this doofus, it continues here:

There have been similar cases in which a dying person was unable to actually eat the wafer and drink the wine, so a tiny droplet of wine and a crumb of the communion wafer were placed in his mouth. The act is just as holy and as spiritually beneficial to the believer as if he drank deeply of the communion cup and chewed a chunk of bread. Schiavo is just engaging in pointless cruelty because taking communion in this way doesn't demonstrate anything about Terri's ability to eat and drink. So typical of his stubborn wickedness. He certainly is sold out to Satan.

This is nothing more than a cold calculating move to allow Hillary to make a similar statement next. The Klintons are making their move right to triangulate. They are posturing for the election and a nomination.

wow--now this surprises me... just the mention of his name makes me cringe, but even Lanny Davis gets it...

There are a lot of conservative pundits who like Lanny as a person. I think this is one of the reasons why.

I actually seen Lanny on TV a couple of times last week and based on what I saw I have to agree that he does appear genuine.

It seems strange to be on the side of Nader and Davis, while being opposed by a number of conseratives though... My take is that most who support her husband simply don't understand all of the facts of the case.

I heard him early last week take this posture. Quite a change from the rabid dnc dog of a year ago. Maybe he's getting ready to run for something.

Lani rally has to take this complaint to Billzo himself. After all the federal judge who ignored the law is, himself, a Clintonista appointee.

God works in ways that we can't fully understand. Perhaps if Terri dies in this horrible gruesome manner, it will result in changes to the legal system/courts that will save the lives of tens of thousands of future "Terris." This is the only positive thing I can think of about this sad case.

Oh come on don't politicize this. There's no reason to believe he's insincere.

I will give him the benefit of the doubt regarding his wish to see Terri Schiavo live, but he politicized it himself on FNC. During his interview, he used every possible opportunity to bash Republicans over this.
