While former first couple Bill and Hillary Clinton have refused to say anything that might help save Terri Schiavo's life, a senior member of their administration strongly condemned Michael Schiavo and the courts Saturday night for starving her to death.
"In this situation on a personal and moral level, I go with the parents who are willing to take care of this young woman," former White House Counsel Lanny Davis told Fox News Channel's Geraldo Rivera. "And I cannot comprehend why this husband is standing in their way."
"I see no reason why the rule of law, or in this case, [why] there shouldn't be an exception to that rule," Davis said, adding that Michael "can't convince me that he's certain of this tragic woman's wishes."
"I have no comprehension as to where he gets his anger from. He's even denied their request for a final Communion," he complained.
The former Clinton counsel even defended last week's attempt by Congress to save Terri, calling it a bipartisan humanitarian effort.
"I hope everybody realizes that Tom Harkin stood up along with Tom DeLay," he noted.
Last straw for Lanny. Maybe that other one, the one who coined 'It's the economy, stupid!', Carville can coin a new one. 'It's murder, stupid!
Good for him!
Oh come on don't politicize this. There's no reason to believe he's insincere.
Even a broken clock gets it right twice a day. Lanny Davis is still a Clintonista worm.
The denial of communion to his starving wife in extremis should finally put to rest any lingering illusions that Michael Schiavo is acting out of "love" for Terri or following "her wishes".
May this final obvious exhibition of his extreme obsessive petty controlling cruelty toward women in general and Terri in particular at least cost him a couple of bucks in his upcoming efforts to strike a book or movie deal featuring him as a grieving widower....??
nah, there's always ABC....
Ol' Lanny didn't have much to say about the wrongness of raping Juanita Broaddrick.
I guess I'm just splitting hairs here.

I am fairly certain that Lanny Davis is sincere. Davis may be a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them, and anyone with any intelligence can understand the lunacy of this situation. All I am saying, is that Clintonistas almost never express personal opinions about anything until they have determined how it will play to the public.
It should. Anybody with any religious glimmerings even though not Catholic themselves that has heard this bit today is probably coming to certain conclusions.
As a non-Catholic Christian who's heart goes out to Terri, please explain to me the religious meaning of denying these last communion rites to her so I will have a deeper understanding of their religious significance to this grieving family, and also grasp further the implications this has for where Michael is. It seems petty and terribly mean to me.
Thank you.
Sad, but true.
Isn't it a little late to be weighing in? Did it take that long to canvas a focus group?
It took watching the Senate's treatment of Clarence Thomas to wake me out of my life-long-liberal stupor.
Good point. And he didn't have much to say about Ole Vince either.
But I saw him the other day talking about this Schiavo matter, and he almost looked human.
Davis, Ickes and the rest will say nothing that is'nt going to help Mizz Hilray.
If anyone thinks gay marriage was a debacle, wait until the fallout from this. Lanny knows it's coming; so do Bubba and the Hildabeast. The rest of the democrats? They're as clueless and stupid as ever.
I never thought I'd be on the same side of anything with both Ralph Nader and Lanny Davis.
Too bad so many conservatives don't get it.
Lanny Davis is the biggest fraud ever. THEIR WORDS ARE EMPTY, DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE!
I am with you 100% waggle.
