Rick Barnard of Morris, Illinois, wass arrested Sunday after trying to bring Terri Schiavo Easter communion. per cnn... ALLAHASSEE, Florida (CNN) -- Florida Gov. Jeb Bush said on Sunday there is nothing else he can do to save Terri Schiavo's life. "I cannot violate a court order," Bush said after returning to the Governor's Mansion from Easter Sunday church services. "I don't have powers from the United States Constitution or -- for that matter from the Florida Constitution -- that would allow me to intervene after a decision has been made." To Terri Schiavo's parents -- who have said Bush should do more to help their daughter -- the governor said: "I can't. I'd love to, but I can't." The governor has been under public pressure from Bob and Mary Schindler, parents of the 41-year-old brain-damaged woman, and many religious groups to intervene further in the case. On Thursday, a Florida state judge denied a petition by Gov. Bush and the state Department of Children and Families to take Schiavo into state custody. (Full story) The Florida Supreme Court dismissed on Saturday -- for the second time in a week -- an emergency petition by the Schindlers to have their daughter's feeding tube reconnected. "I'm sad that she's in the situation that she's in," Bush said, commenting publicly on the case for the first time since Thursday. "I feel bad for her family. My heart goes out to the Schindlers and, for that matter, to [her husband] Michael [Schiavo]," Bush said. "This has not been an easy thing for any, any member of the family. But most particularly for Terri Schiavo."

Jeez, yeah I'd say so...
In a nutshell. Well said.
The Schindlers Rightfully Try to Remove the Thug
It seems to be a well thought out, factually underpinned petition.
Of course, "judge" Greer denied it.
It's a sad day when our own government can't save the life of an innocent woman just because a member of a death cult says she needs to be starved to death and thrown into the ovens.
Stop and think about this situation for a minute. Greer followed the current law of Florida, however unfortunate that law may be. I think a lot of you need to sit back and think about the long term implications of this. What I see here is many calling for this law to be thrown out and in effect change who decides who should live or die. Not the family or spouse, no matter how despicable he may be but the government. Do you really want the state or national government to have the right to decide when and how you may die if you are in this position?
I understand that this woman dying is indeed a grievous moment in the history of this nation of states. However, when it's over with, who will still have the right to decide whether or not a loved one is disconnected from life support (be it respirators, feeding tubes etc.)? It will still be in the hands of the family. And you, as a supposed conservative want it in the hands of the state instead?!?
Hello, Clara Lou,
You can give someone a building.
You can't give someone the soul of the 'church.'
"Perhaps you need a bit of soothing tea, some quiet music going on, and perhaps a bit of chocolate, to get back into your zen peace-is-all frame of mind."
Ahh, maybe you're right.... but come on, tell the truth, you liked the "steroid supplier" one, didn't you??? :-)
Oh another thing.... "Hany"??? ;)
Chilling thought.
Let's not forget the Schindler's attorneys.
I never back down.
This is something with which Governor Bush is unfamiliar.
Therefore, the governor is a slave to the judiciary, and must carry out unconstitutional orders. This means there is no Constitution, there is no rule of law. The judge IS the law, and whatever he says must be obeyed. He says to kill, so the governor must kill, and unconstitutionally deprive someone of the right to life.
And yet, the governor did not pledge an oath to obey unconstitutional court orders. He pledged:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, protect, and defend the Constitution and Government of the United States and of the State of Florida; that I am duly qualified to hold office under the Constitution of the state; and that I will well and faithfully perform the duties of (title of office) on which I am now about to enter. So help me God."His oath is to uphold the Constitution, not to fulfill the unlawful wishes of a judge.
There is no denying Jeb Bush felt the court order was inappropriate. Just the other day, he said new information in the Terri Schiavo case, which had been ignored by the judiciary, raises serious concerns and warrants immediate action to intervene. He then stated, If there's any uncertainty, we should err on the side of protecting her. We're exhausting all executive options . . . to save Terri's life.
He said that if any error was to be made, it should be on the side of saving Terri. President Bush said the same thing.
Now is the time, Governor Bush and President, when you are being called to risk making that error. Err on the side of life.

How ironic that the laws of Florida are contrary to the Book upon which Governor Bush swore an oath!
You (missused) the word 'fiat, so let's look at the court order from judge Greer that forbids a governor from fulfilling his sworn duty to an endangered citizen of the state. Shut up if you can't reason any better than that.
Navy,
It just hit a bit too close to home, for them.
(The poop stinks and they don't want it next to them.)
Florida has a law on the books that classifies sustenance and hydration as "medical treatment." It was put there by legislators voted into office by Florida citizens. And signed by Jeb Bush.
Why did Florida citizens not have this law changed?
I suggest you read the purge trials from Stalin's time, the procurator sounds very rational and obviously a skilled jurist
This is hyperbole, meant to dramatize your non-responsive post.
as you do to the least among you, so you do to me.
