"Good intentions don't necessarily make good laws. "
Baning guns from good citizens is not good intentions, but an attempt to make it easier to form a dictatorship.

You cannot disarm a criminal with laws. If so then there would be no criminals. It is against the law to murder (or it was yesterday the judges may have changed it by now) and has that stopped anyone? NO. And it would seen that certain members of the state may commit murder without fear of any punishment.

This article would have zero effect on the gun grabbing crowd, it has way too much common sense in it.

That they don't get as much press as a woman whose feeding tube is removed?

A friend of mine grew up in Manhattan. He would travel to high school shooting competitions at the Knightsbridge Armory in the Bronx by subway, with a 0.22 rifle at sling arms on his shoulder, in the 1950's. Homicide rates were far lower in the 1950's and school shootings were all but unheard of.

An unarmed security guard is absolutely worthless and endangering him/her self. Simply pleading and begging only emboldens criminals with a seemingly free pass.
Unarmed citizens are also endangering themselves if they believe police will rescue them "just in time". As the author stated, police usually respond after the crime, so it is naive to believe police protection is adequate.
Good article.

The major factor determining success is the relative strengths and sizes of the criminal and officer. In particular, when officer strength and size requirements are reduced because of affirmative action, each one-percent increase in the number of female officers increases the number of assaults on police by 15 to 19 percent. The Atlanta-courthouse shooting simply arose from such a case. The truth that dare not speak its name...

Liberals are unable to grasp the basic fact that criminals, by definition, do not obey laws. Efforts to control guns are about as successful as the efforts to control drugs...successful like Prohibition was. In short not very successful at all. Liberals refuse to picture the ultimate bad situation. What is a person going to do when confronted with a criminal intent on doing him or her harm? Without a gun or a weapon of some sort, the great majority of women are at the terrible mercy of a criminal. Guns are the great equalizer.
