Bob and Mary Schindler, both practicing Catholics, urged dozens of supporters gathered outside the Florida hospice where Schiavo is being cared for to go home for Easter.
"The family would request that everyone go home, be with your children, hold them close and share every moment you have with them," said Brother Paul O'Donnell, a Franciscan monk who is a spiritual adviser to the Schindlers.
It was not clear if the Schindlers had finally abandoned all legal avenues in their fight to restart their 41-year-old daughter's feeding, a cause that embroiled the Florida legislature, the U.S. Congress and President Bush.

I would hardly call throwing away fifteen years of work in the incredibly unlikely hope that at least one Bush or another might be coerced somehow into doing what he should do as a matter of moral course 'using this issue for polititical gain'.
But it is very likely too late now in any case. My desperate action in leaving the party today was probably as vain as the act of getting arrested for stepping onto Auschwitz property with water for Terri.
The RINOs and their jackbooted thugs could care less about any of it. They are so arrogantly full of their own power, they don't care what anyone else has to say, even in a matter of life and death for the innocent.
Your attacks on me on this issue are despicable. If you had any shame, you'd be hanging your head right now to your knees.
The way you're acting is exactly like the pro-death, God and Christian-hating protestors in front of the hospice.
You fit in perfectly in the new George Greer GOP.
Good night, MTOrlando... Happy Easter, and blessings on you and yours.
But I'd have to support that federal bill anyway, for the same reason Ron Paul would support a nationwide ban on abortion(10th amendment). It comes down to the life issue with me.
All of the legal processes and checks and balances have failed if a county can murder(legally or not) someone. That affects the heart and soul of the entire country. Do we put the processes ahead of that.
The biggest problem (outside of old boys politics) is that precedence is the highest value among judges, not the founders original intent, common sense, and the old values this country was based on. Life, Liberty, and Property. The 2nd biggest is the lack of checks and balances on the judicial branch of government.
Very interesting. You see people calling for that a lot.
Niiiiiice... Oh, and by the way? Those kids "stepping onto Auschwitz property with water for Terri"? The cups were empty. Sorta like your rhetoric.
Felos, the leader of this whole thing all along, is a death cultist of the highest order. If you don't know that, maybe that explains why you understand little about this case when you post.
Well I never liked or trusted any of the Bushes, so if either of the bros had done something, I was really going to have rethink my feelings about them.
Saving Terri would have meant that they do indeed have some moral fortitude.
I still hold out hope though, that maybe one or both of them will find the courage to go out on the limp to save this lady.
limp=limb
Does he? Yes.
Does he really? Yes.
Next question.
You think I like seeing someone I put up as an example to my democratic friends as to who protects people fall?
Not likely.
When I found out he signed into law the VERY Darn TOOL that is used to KILL Terri, it changed a lot.
A lot. Do you hear that?
And according to Florida's statutes, the HAS the aurthority to protect, defend, and save that woman.
But chose not to do what he is charged to (protect) and authorized to do so.
Back to, "NEXT QUESTION."
I believe that Jeb was instrumental in saving Terri's life last year... Where were you then?
So do I.
But the end is close.
I'll be surprised if Terry lives through the day. The situation is dire.
ZING!
Tough.
Your attitude on this night of all nights is unbearably boorish, to say the least.
I see both sides......it is you of narrow minded faith based bs that hates and hates and hates.....is is like free speech advocates who like to shut conservatives up....I find some of you who expound with your biblical pontifications and such are the biggest "haters" and "judgment makers" of us all
