World's Children Dying From Common, Treatable Infections (guess whose fault it is?)
MSN ^ | THURSDAY, March 24 | By Steven Reinberg, HealthDay Reporter

Six easy-to-treat infectious diseases account for the majority of deaths in young children in the developing world, according to a new report by researchers for the World Health Organization (WHO)...........

..........Better treatment would require political action that's just not there right now, however. "There is not yet the global conscience and political will to make it happen," Black said............

.........Moreover, Black noted that "the U.S. is among the worst countries in the world in terms of contributions to foreign assistance."

The leftist environmentalists are responsible for most of the malaria deaths in the third world due to their rabbid hate for DDT.

WHO does not understand that the best way to help these children is capitalism and the prosperity that it brings. That's when these problems become much less significant. But the UN is so pro-socialist they can't conceive that emulating western values would help these nations.

Why are death tolls from earthquakes so much higher in the 3rd world compared to advanced nations? Superior infrastructure (mud huts fall down more easily-duh) and ability to mobilize and treat. Just plain better equiped to deal with it.

In many areas, especially Africa, leaders refuse to allow immunizations to occur or tell the people not to get them because it is either a "zionist" or "American" conspiracy and the immunizations will give them AIDS or make them sterile.

That's special.

What part of the blame goes to the corrupt governments who steal monies and medicines that are to go to their poor?

Yet another reason to despise stupid leftist environmental radicals. These enviro-fascists insist upon reliance upon medieval methods of disease and pestilence control and then bitch and moan when the plagues are visited upon the world. Their only solution is to tax the American taxpayer even more.

The Great Satan, the USA, is responsible for all of the world's miseries, all of them.

It boggles my mine that anyone would want to come to such an evil country (Are you listening,Vicente?)

My favorite is the IslamoFascist state governments of Northern Nigeria outlawing polio vaccination as anti-Islamic. (It probably is.)Yeah, its Bush and the evil Republicans' fault. The utterly corrupt socialist hellhole governments of the toilet 3rd World tyrannys have nothing to do with these health problems. But, hey, they all have free socialized healthcare. Moreover, [Dr. Robert E. Black, a professor and chairman of the Department of International Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University.] ... noted that "the U.S. is among the worst countries in the world in terms of contributions to foreign assistance."

According to Black, the rich countries have pledged that they will each give 0.7 percent of their gross national product to foreign assistance. "The U.S. is currently at 0.17 percent, while other European countries have reached 0.7 percent," Black said. "So the U.S. goes to conferences and pledges additional aid, and doesn't deliver."

First of all, Dr. Black, the US is not a European country. Furthermore, when we send people to help with Tsunami aid, we are criticised for sending military in. The US has saved untold millions of children in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Haiti, and Iraq. Throwing money down the WHO hole is fruitless.

Hey we gave at the UN, OIL FOR FOOD campaign.

These people live off the misery of others. I have encountered them in most every country. They sit around cooking up bad things against the USA while sipping on their Rum and Coke and complain that there's not enough money.

The whole damn world cares nothing about the other countries health.

We just have enough nutty people here in the US that believe any of this commie crap.

Just another attempt by the collectivists in the UN and other NGO's to institute a "world tax" (proper spelling - "tax rich Americans").

Health money funneled through the UN is worthless. Most of it goes into the administrators' pockets, and the rest is spent on distributing condoms and IUDs. Plus, many of these UN personnel are child rapists, whom we are paying to send to Africa.

The US sends all kinds of missionaries and charitable donations abroad privately, and this money is far better spent. I wouldn't give a dime to the UN or USAID.

Yeah, but most of those people are religous. The poor, ignorant children could become contaminated by their kook zealotry

Here in Lakeland, FL, the Baptist Children's Home, which is in essence an orphanage, does wonderful things for the kids. The conditions in all aspects are so superior to anything the state can do. We have had a nice friendship with a girl our daughter met about 10 years ago (age 13) living there at the time - until she was 18. The people there (and the church)are like her extended family.

Even though our daughter is not living with us, she (the friend) still comes by for dinner and visits and we do little things for her. She is now a senior in college and I shudder to think what her life would be like had she been put in foster care instead of with people that truly cared.
