WASHINGTON -- By a margin of almost 2-to-1, likely Florida voters feel strongly that Congress and President Bush should have stayed out of the battle over Terri Schiavo's fate, according to a new poll conducted this week for the South Florida Sun-Sentinel and Florida Times-Union.

Why do you guys who have never walked in this man's shoes condemn him? This is some of why people are getting disgusted with this, the constant demonizing of this man is astounding

Why is he demonizing a family that wants to let Terri live and take care of her.

Since when did conservatives and Christians think it was a good idea to use children to make a political point? That's what the liberals do and get slammed for it.

No one is "using" children. Did it ever occur to you that some children are capable of determining right from wrong and are willing to stand against wrong because they were raised to have principles and morals?

Since when did conservatives think it was a good idea for the federal government to get involved in what has for years been a private matter between families and doctors?

It is a good idea for those who have the power to do so to get involved whenever a life is endangered and there are questionable circumstances and objections to that life being taken.

Since when did conservatives think something should be a federal matter vs. a state's right.

When the Constitutional rights of a disabled person are being violated.

Since when did Christians think it was okay to stand outside a Hospice with bullhorns yelling all day and night? Those patients in that Hospice are suffering because of this.

Apparently you haven't heard. Most of the protesters are peaceful and quiet. There is actually a silent protest occuring.

And there was an article today that a little girl got a phone call from the Hospice that her grandpa was dying and before she could get through all the security checkpoints, he'd died.

A little girl? Hardly. She was 24: a grown woman. She went to the Hospice sans identification which is required regardless. Hardly the protesters fault. Next time a person of this age commits a murder or another crime, let's call them a "little girl" (or boy). Nah, they are only a little whatever when you want to give them a victim status to promote your own agenda.

FDR had his court packing effort.

Democrats have just applied the same concept over the course of 50 years.

Comparing this to NAZI Germany? Honey, Feeding tubes and ventalators are removed everyday in this country. You insult every victim of the NAZI machine with comments like that.

Ok, lets talk about that. I would like to hear what her attendings say about that. From what I understand this whole dispute started when Terri's parents wanted a cut from his part of the settlement. He said no, and this is how this whole mess got started. So, he lives with a woman and has two kids by her. Big deal. I dont believe that. You have not heard his side of the story. How can you make a judgment like that? Do you think it is easy to let go of someone like that? Well it is not. I know how hard it is.

no the differnce is the notioin of full hearing and voluntary nature. I have been involved in such cases and as a lawyer, this case is VERY troubling.

The diffence here is that there is a very reasoned dispute as to the desire of the incapacitated. Only one judge has looked at the facts. One federal judge decided the viability of merrits of the case in TWO hours.

The nazi machine was predicated on the "right to compassion". What the heck is a "compassion" and how is it measured? This is not arbitrating facts, this is arbitrating feeeeeelings and feeeeelings are never wrong.

It all depends on how you phrase the question.

I probably agree for the most part of what you said, I actually think your percentage points are probably low, believe it or not. I don't think that everyone in those percentage points however, will either sit the next election out or go the other way... I think they realize there is WAAAYYYYY to much to lose if they do that. Again, they may not support 100% when it comes to the nominee but they better not be moronic enough to "show 'em" by sitting idlely on the sidelines...

If they do, they better STFU afterwards if we lose because they will have contributed greatly to it...

Not when it isn't known that that was their wish. If you don't see that there are serious conflicts with Mike Schaivo and differences in opinion of those who love her as to her wishes, you are blind. I don't try to argue with the moraly blind. It is exactly the same thing as the courts in Nazi Germany and I honor their memories by standing for life. You disgrace their memory by turning a blind eye, just as the world did prior to the rise of Nazi Germany.

So, you are willing to flush our party down the toliet for one person? what makes her so special than the other folks in this country where this is played out everyday? I will tell you. Because Terri's parents are ticked off at Mr. Schiavo because he did not give them a cut of the settlement money that is why this whole thing got started. It is her parents that are using their own daughter not Mr. Schiavo. That is the way I see it. This is not about Terri, How would you like your family putting you on display like that?

"Let's go back in time. So if 99% of Florida said it was ok to crucify Jesus, and 1% said it is not, since the majority, a whopping 99% thinks it's the right thing to do....that would make it ok?"

Are you saying that Jesus should NOT have been crucified? If he had not been, there would be no such thing as Christianity. Jesus himself said that he knew he would be killed, and accepted that as his role.

There's not a peep in this article about how the poll was conducted and how the questions were framed. We're being sheepled by pollsters!
