Daddy, Why are the Courts Trying to Kill Terri Schiavo?
The National Ledger ^ | March 26, 2005 | Justin Darr

Posted on 03/25/2005 7:21:10 PM PST by Coastal

After September 11th, my children came up to me afraid to go to school because they thought they might be attacked by terrorists and I assumed that I had all the answers. I could explain how far away from anything important we live and how many times they were more likely to be struck by lightning than hurt by a terrorist, but they still want to play in the rain. I would then open the newspaper, or turn on the television and show them all the steps the government was taking to protect them, "See all those soldiers? Every one of them wants to protect you." My words soothed them, but seeing action being taken by our elected officials on the news had a tangible impact on them that something was being done about a problem in a way my words never could.

However, now I am out of answers. My daughter came up to me and asked why the courts were killing Terri Schiavo.

"The girl you call Terri's best friend is actually Michael's sister-in-law. His brother's wife. It is not Terri's best friend..."

"Joan Schiavo testified that she and Terri, whom she described as "my best friend and like a sister that I never had," had discussed artificial life support as many as 12 times."
-- USATODAY, 3/24/05

"Terri didn't want to live like that," said Joan Schiavo, Terri Schiavo's best friend, who also testified Monday. "She didn't want people to see her like that. She didn't want to do that to her family and friends."
-- St. Petersburg Times, 1/25/00

"This point is essentially the key of keys to the case, and Felos identified these witnesses on TV as Michael Schiavo, Michael's brother, and Terri's "best friend Joan."

If the people coming forth since the January, 2000 ruling couldn't bother to take the time to testify back then, screw 'em. They had their chance.

Why isn't your first question to them, "Where were you when Terri needed you? Where were you when it could have made a difference?"

So the statute of limitations had run out on this criminal woman, Terri Shaivo.
"Uh, your honor, we know that our opponents have evidence that may very well contradict the findings of this all-knowing court, but, well gee, their time has run out. And," (this being argued by another so called freeper) "your honor it's Ms. Schaivo's own negligence that has brought us to this. She was foolish enough to marry Michael. So the mistakes this court makes pale in comparison to her negligence."

Michael's ex-girlfriend said she didn't want to testify because she FEARED Michael. Other witness's verify her accounts. Why did she not testify before, because she was scared, and she was unknown to the Schindlers until this time.

"Michael's brother and wife watched as Michael pulled the plug on his parents. They stand to profit from Terri's death as well."

Oh really now? Jusy how do they stand to profit?

"HER FRIEND who was at the same party watching TV has stated that TERRI said the exact opposite."

What was the name of her friend, and what did Terri supposedly say?

Of course he did...that makes it sound more believable, more personal. But there are others who say different. Her "real" best friends who say other things.

Sorry...I don't believe anything that Felos, MS or his family say.

Well that is easy, the state has taken opun it's self the right to just the quality of ones life. It is doesn't not meet some subjective standard then will no more food or water for you. I believe the Nazis refered to such people as "useless eaters". I suggest everyone eat as much as they can everyday, might come in handy to have a few extra pounds, just in case you have to wait for Jeb Bush to make up his mind.

In a sense, yes. They're not going to re-open the case because a couple of dingbats, looking for their 15 minutes of fame, are making public statements (that they would never make under oath) to attract attention to themselves at the last minute.

Where were they in 2000?

No, he didn't.

He failed to act IMPARTIALLY. He failed to investigate reports of abuse. He failed to see that Michael Schiavo obey the Guardianship laws. He appointed himself guardian ad litem and also sat in judgment on this case which is against Florida Law. He disobeyed the Congressional Subpoena thereby thumbing his nose at the President and Congress and engaged in COLLUSION.

And Were this case to be thoroughly investigated, we would find dozens of other laws that he broke.

My daughter is in tears today because she has heard this on the news. She doesn't want Terri to die.

I finally had to tell her that Terri will be in heaven with our Heavenily Father. Free from pain and persecution. Free from Michaels abuse. Free from the fear of death.

I sent her to bed an hour ago...I can still hear her whispered prayers for Terri. :`(

In a sense, yes. They're not going to re-open the case because a couple of dingbats, looking for their 15 minutes of fame, are making public statements (that they would never make under oath) to attract attention to themselves at the last minute.

Where were they in 2000?

Actually Mike's ex-girlfriend was deposed under oath. And in 2000 she was avoiding the spotlight out of fear of Michael.

Here are excerpts from her May 8, 2001 Deposition:

Cindy Shook describing Schiavo’s possessiveness. "he’s very jealous. He stalked me at my…at where I worked after I stopped dating…when he would get mad at me he would tell me, I would rather be laying in bed in the nursing home with her than with you. I mean he can be the most incredibly mean person"

When asked if she were afraid that Michael would physically harm her or if he would harm children:

"I am concerned about retaliation because I have a child -I have children and a husband. I know him, I know what he told me I said he could be a very mean person." She spoke of how Schiavo stalked her for close to a year after the breakup and that she received repeated phone calls.

"He came on the floor looking for me several times. I felt it was out of character for him to get a job as an orderly at the hospital That was concerning to me. When he would come up to the floor looking for her she was not scared the first time but later was scared.

"In town I would look up when I was driving…" she would look up in the rear view mirror and there would be Michael Schiavo. I would look up and he would be behind me in traffic. It continued for several months after he didn’t work at the hospital. She would change lanes, try to make a turn and he would do the same. He did this about ten times.

"One time he was behind me in traffic he got next to me in a two-lane going the same way, and he changed lanes basically right on top of where I was at, and I had to swerve not to be hit. I had to swerve off the road. Michael ran me off the road. I considered it as stalking, dangerous and guessed potentially life threatening."

Regarding Terri’s care, according to Cindy Shook, Michael Schiavo said: "How the hell should I know we never spoke about this, my God I was only 25 years old. How the hell should I know? We were young. We never spoke of this."

"Here are excerpts from her May 8, 2001 Deposition:"

16 months after Terri's feeding tube was ordered removed. A lot of good it did, huh?

In 2000, she was afraid of Michael, but in 2001 she was no longer afraid. Is that what you want me to believe?

Was she cross examined in the deposition? (No.) This is garbage. And irrelevant garbage to boot.

My 18 year old daughter who is engaged to be married in 2-3 years asked me, "Mom, you wouldn't let Chad do that to me, would you?" I said no, but seeing how the courts have rendered the Schinler's helpless to save their beloved daughter terrifies me.

We should all be VERY afraid. These arogant judges are out of control and legislative branches of government are weak kneed weaseals. WE should be screaming at our reps to change the law and protect these helpless people from heartless predators like Michael Shiavo.

I agree with you.i've seen some very absurd posting on FR regarding this case. People who otherwise have been logical and showed critical thinking in the past anr now blinded by emotion. Some recent post here have been as insane as things you'd see from the fanatics on DU.The woman's been like this for 15 years..Not 2 weeks since many people first got into this story ..15 years. Now all of a sudden people have cures and ideas and all sorts of new explainations..Where were they all these years. The woman is never going to be beyond what she is now..Most major doctors agree on this .I can't believe that Republicans want the GOVT to get involved in these matters..Are you all for real ?You'r eopening up a can of worns here with that suggestion .What happens down the road when grandma is in this postion and a son disagrees with grandpa over what to do ..Now you're going to have everyone with lawyers all over the place in matters that are to be left up to the spouse and the spouse alone.

If she made that comment to him...he should have fessed up to it when he was trying to get multi millions for her rehabilitation...not seven years later after getting a new girlfriend and starting a new family.

He should have kept up her therapy after getting the 1 million plus, instead of immediately stopping all therapy, ordering no treatment for an infection that could have killed her, refusing her the right to have the sun shine on her face and go outside, refusing to allow her teeth to be brushed.

Judgement is for God, but I know very well that I will not give rights to my care to a man over my own parent. I know who cares more for me!!

After she gets married, have her sign a Durable power of Attorney giving rights to make medical decisions to you...or to you and her husband equally. At least that way any judge would know that she wants you to be involved!

In medical circumstances the spouse has the final word , not the parents not the siblings ..Tha's the way it is .
