Well Mike, you've convinced me that I need a break from FR. When conservative Christians start quoting Boortz about God and right to life issues I start shaking my head.

When we start agreeing with courts issuing orders not to let food or water pass a human beings lips, for me that is a bridge too far.

When we accept the argument that the marriage contract is not a contract but simply a quaint old custom, I can't agree.

So, rather than let my temper get the best of me on Good Friday, I'll take a break from politics which is probably well needed.

For making me realize that I thank you Mike.

Happy easter, God bless.

No Appeals Courts to appeal to either when it comes to God's judgement, is there? NO Fl SC to overturn His ruling.

Terri received her last rites in a fashion acceptable to the Roman Catholic Church. Let it go.

Proving once again that it is better to give than to receive.

Plus, he's not backed up by any1 else - it's all a single person's hearsay ...

No. There were three who testified as to Terri's comments when Terri saw her grandmother dying on a hospital bed. All three were Schiavo's. Michaels, his brother, Scott, and Scott's wife. Terri's blood family also testified as to Terri's wishes, and gave the opposite impression. The error is with the "finder of fact" as to what Terri's wishes truly are.

I find the error eggregious, but I am not a judge and have no power, so as a matter of law settled wrong, she wishes to die.

I abhor the "ethics" of causing death by starvation too, but that is a separate subject.

Congratulations! When I posted the same sentiment that we should allow Terri to die and return to God, the Admin Moderator censored it by pulling the entire thread and told me not to re-post.

Maybe the mods considered your post was more of a vanity (which I'm sure the mods are monitoring heavily right now). Michael (a writer with his own website) is essentially posting an article.

The "let her go to Jesus" is just a sugar coating to hide the horror of what is actual happening. It is not letting nature take its course. It is the premeditated taking away of a human life.

Well said. The image of that church in Germany in the 1940's singing louder during services as trains full of Jews are being transported to concentration camps comes to mind here.

Michael has chosen this for his wife since Terri does not have a living will.

If Terri had a living will of the model form that Florida statutes contain, then her starvartion would have been carried out by the hospice with no need to involve the court. Terri's wishes would have been infered from the writing she signed herself.

"No one should "go home to Jesus" via starvation and dehydration."

People die. None are exempt from this requirement. Rarely is our exit from this realm pleasant. Whether by dying one inch at a time from cancer or by blunt force trauma from an automobile accident, "good" people sometimes suffer.

God is in control here. We are witnesses to His instruction. Try to learn from all of this . . .

Truly there are things of this realm of life worse than the transformation we are given at death. One of those would be having Michael Schiavo as a "guardian" to someone requiring medical care.

Some Christian's on this thread remind me of someone

Oh yes, Pilate. Pilate washed his hands saying there is nothing he can do about it.

This thread is a hand washing thread.

has had no conscious thought in her mind in 15 years. She doesn't even know her name or realize her existence for 15 years. And this person also expressed a desire not to be kept alive by artificial means as well.

All of this is ripe for debate. There are differing opinions of qualified medical caregivers. Her "wishes" were expressed by the Schiavo trio and no one else. That alone is reason to let her live. My God. It's deplorable that a reason is even needed. She is a human being. A flawed one no doubt. Nevertheless, she is a living human being.

I have had my Chesterton tagline (Moral issues are always terribly complex, for someone without principles.) for some time now, but for some reason it seems very appropriate right now.

It is very appropriate...this is what happens when people abandon principles.

What is Gods will?

My friend that is a Question that has been questioned everytime someone dies.

Horatio B Spafford said it best after he lost his entire Family

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
Let this blest assurance control,
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
And hath shed His own blood for my soul.

My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

For me, be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live:
If Jordan above me shall roll,
No pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

But, Lord, ‘tis for Thee, for Thy coming we wait,
The sky, not the grave, is our goal;
Oh trump of the angel! Oh voice of the Lord!
Blessèd hope, blessèd rest of my soul!

And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
The clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
Even so, it is well with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It takes great Faith in the Soverienty of Father God to say those words and not just Sing them

If one came to know Christ thought the killing of the Lundsford girl was it worth her death? Her parents and Family may say NO! But the one that was saved from eternal damnation says YES and is eternally grateful.

There lies the juxtaposition.

I belive its Gods Will that everyone Should come to know Christ and live by Faith in Him. I say again His ways are not ours and His Thoughts are not yours or mine.

If that is what the law decreed, then the law is an ass.

You didn't know the law was an ass? And the lawyers are mostly all asswipes.

Yes, Terri will go on to heaven and be with our Lord (assuming she accepted redemption in Jesus, which seems likely). But think of her Mom, Dad, sister, and brother. They love her. They are crushed and are going to be even more heartbroken beyond what we know. They will think about and sorely miss Terri every day for the rest of their lives. Years from now they will still cry about her. It is awful that the courts and Michael did this to them.

How do you know she has any relationship to Christ? I hope she does, but I've never heard a syllable to indicate she's even heard the biblical Gospel, much less believed savingly in Christ. That's one of the reasons I see it as so important that she not die -- she may not be ready to.

It's pure sentimentalistic wish-fulfillment to yarn on (as you are not doing) about how "better off" she'll be once she dies, when we simply don't know. (I blogged on that very theme, which we see so disconcertingly often at FR -- people we don't like go straight to Hell, but people we like [irrespective of any evidence of a relationship to Christ] go straight to Heaven.)
