A federal court hearing has started in one of the last effort attempts by Terri Schiavo's parents to restore their daughter's feeding tube.
But the judge already has turned down the parents once. Bob and Mary Schindler are asking for an emergency order to reinsert the feeding tube in the brain-damaged woman.
The hearing in Tampa is before U.S. District Judge James Whittemore. He turned the Schindlers down once, as did a federal appeals court and the Supreme Court. A state judge, a state appeals court and the Florida Supreme Court also have all come down on the side of the husband, who wants to let his wife die after 15 years in what some doctors call a vegetative state.
The latest defeat for the Schindlers was today when a state judge said he won't go along with Governor Jeb Bush's request to order the feeding tube reinserted. The governor had said that new allegations of abuse of Terri Schiavo need to be investigated. The governor also tried to challenged the diagnosis that Terri Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state.
I think FR has mostly been pro-life. Does that bother you?
Your post represents my sentiments as well.
Get a load of this jewel. George W. Bush has brought liberty to 50 million people, yet he's too "cowardly" to be the leader of the free world.
This one's a classic. Might deserve a thread of its own.
BTW, farmer, what does the TV fare of Bush's daughters have to do with anything? They're not running the country.
Also, could you explain how the Bushes are "apocraphal" (it's spelled "apocryphal")? I can't seem to fit the dictionary definition to your context.
"He'll probably make millions once she is dead."
Don't forget the book deal, the made-for-TV-movie, etc.
You poke fun at my dead mama, and I'M the bully?
Wonderful post. I don't think we should expect Jeb or GWB to do something foolish here and cause a constitutional crises. Nor do I think we should have them, who have fought a good fight, take the blame.
The blames is us. We need to deal with this in the way you suggest.
And remember the Serenity prayer. I think we need it. And if in response to this people abandon home, give up on government, they are letting the dark side win. Rome was not built in a day and this country will continue to evolve and hopefully we would play a role in that.
If everyone doesn't just tune out and drop out.
I was saying this stuff weeks ago. I read through alot of the prior lawsuits online, and there is a clear case of incompetance on the part of the Schindler lawyers. It sent up a red flag for me, and I have no been surprised at all this past week.
I am not saying that I'll do that,I am not blaming GWB or JB,they have been brave leaders on this especially JB, but in the end, ther will be many that will judge them on the basis of whether or not Terri was rescued.
I heard Jeb today. He showed compassion to those slinging hate at him. A good man.
Wow!
Someone has taken over FR??
From where I'm sitting just looks like an ordinary Saturday night free for all!
Something must have happened while I in the kitchen getting a soda.
Is this supposed to make sense? Help me out here.
Apparently he's not even a state judge -- he's only a County probate judge!
Glad you are in agreement. :-)
There's been a coup at FR?
LOL!
Well they sure scare me.
God grant us the serenity to accept what we can not change
courage to change what we can
and the wisdom to know the difference.
I said all along, it takes a lot less courage to stand up to Saddam Hussein than to stand up to the American media, the ACLU and the Democrats. Hussein is a villain from central casting; everybody hates him, no controversy when you call him out. But to stand up and say the ACLU is subverting this country - now THAT would take courage. To come down to Pinellas and say, We're not going to start killing disabled people on my watch - - THAT would take courage.
Check out her gall in 161: apparently there's been a coup here at FR.
