IF JEB BUSH DOEN'T ACT QUICKLY TO SAVE TERRY SCHIAVO, HIS POLLITICAL CARREER IS FINISHED!!
The wierd mind of gonzo ^ | march 24, 2005 | gonzo

If Terri dies when she could actually be kept alive, and Jeb Bush doesn't use the State Police or the Florida National Guard, or ANYTHING to prevent this travesty, he will be vilified by the democRATS if he ever seeks another office (like the Presidency).

It means nothing that some democRATS are actually trying to keep her alive. The only thing that the MSM will hammer on is that he stood by AS Governor and allowed that poor woman to DIE when he could have prevented it.

The problems are this:

Power of Attorney is all that is needed. The person who has that must be absolutely trustworthy because this is the type of thing that can happen.

The stupid law Congress crafted is apparently as worthless as they come. Another thread on Free Republic points out the wording used, and it is as vague as can be.

People have been in this situation for years and there hasn't been an outcry. I don't like what is happening either, but what needed to be done to stop this wasn't.

The husband's conflict of interest through having the Power of Attorney and living with a woman beyond that which makes for common law marriage should have been explored. Second, the law Congress crafted should have been more direct.

The post to which I refer is here:

Let Jeb Bush and all of us walk up and offer Terri a cup of water.

"to see if they respond to this injustice".

I think actually the wheels are starting to come off the Greer/Michael buggy. At least I have been unable to sleep thinking about it.

The 3pm press conference was good. It did play their hand, but also gave Greer a chance to save face. He sure didn't do it tonight, and looks arrogant enough to just be taking even more time away from Terri, and rule for death Thursday, too.

However, Hannity and Rush etc have been all over this for days. Hannity took Michael's hack doc apart. Add that to the new direct allegation that she is not PVS --

The Supremes aren't going to take a fall for a hack probate judge in Florida, are they? When it is starting to look like this? They are sensitive to their reputation and their stature, probably even more than they are pro-death.

I don't know enough about their rules and procedures to predict what they will do.

I don't think Jeb Bush is gutless. I think he is playing his cards, one at a time. I just pray Terri has time for them to all be played . . . she is suffering in the meantime for sure. It is Holy Thursday already.

I hope someone can tell me how far I am off base, or not. I would like to get some sleep tonight . . .

I'm not as proud to be an American right now as I once was.

I have a different take on this. Those of you who know me, know that I am as pro-Terri as the next!!! But, for the country to STOP and FOCUS on one lady...to me, this says a LOT.

We're being FORCED to choose between life and death, good and evil. That line in the sand is being drawn, isn't it? I'm rather proud of (some of) us these past few weeks.

Don't EVER EVER forget Who is really in control here. Please.

Same here although my cynicism started in the 60s. It's been downhill ever since. I don't think we are past the point of no return yet, but it would be s pity if America fails as a leader in ethical practices. Since America already leads in morally progressive areas such as women's reproductive rights and pornography (/extreme sarcasm), sharing a co-leadership with the Netherlands in the practice of euthanasia is but a small step.

Gonzo, I think you made a mistake.

You say,
If Terri dies when she could actually be kept alive, and Jeb Bush doesn't use the State Police or the Florida National Guard, or ANYTHING to prevent this travesty, he will be vilified by the democRATS if he ever seeks another office (like the Presidency).

Why would he be villified by Democrats.
I think you mean Republicans.

All throughout history a few righteous people have held the very fabric of the universe together. When evil seems so immense it takes courage to still have faith in the ultimate benevolence of the Creator.

We are all being tested. It's the same old story. Good versus evil. Most of the Free Republic people are indeed on the good side. Prayer, vigilance and right action will see us through.

Greer can't be arrested by a governor; the legislature has the power of impeachment and can bring the judge up on charges. Toss her husband in chains? For what? Following a judicial order? It'd take anyone ten seconds to get him out of jail.

That was just my personal anger talkin', kingu. Just shove them out of the way and take her to a proper hospital and save her life.

A Contempt of Court charge by Greer would have zero popular support, and Jeb would be a hero.............FRegards

What I can't figure out is why Jeb bothered with that 3PM press conference yesterday.

By talking and not acting, he made his own position look even worse than it is. Once he stepped up to the microphone, he should have been simultaneously marshalling the state police, FDLE and the protective services to move in within hours.

"The entire world is watching this entire drama unfold right before their eyes and many are absolutely horrified and chilled beyond belief at what they see."

So are most Americans, I trust. It's all so bizarre to me. I see the leftist judges doing the same thing to our country that the terrorists are doing, namely, using our own Constitution to hurt us with. The terrorists take advantage of the freedoms our Constitution provides, and the judges have become tyrants by 'interpreting' the Constitution to conform to their destructive agenda.

This is the only time in my long life that I am ashamed of my country, if they let this happen. The ramifications of this will be tremendous! Much like a shot heard around the world....

I hope and pray for the day when the following prophecy will unfold...

Why won't you go back? I'm a world away and can only wish I could be there at the hospice day and night. Thank you for lending your support on the occasion you did travel down there.
