A woman is slowly starving to death in a Florida hospice.
She is under armed guard to ensure that no one offers her water to drink or food to eat.
This is all happening under court order.
Not a congressional act or the personal intervention of the president of the United States has been able to help her.
Is America broken?
How could this happen in this country, as the whole nation, the whole world, watches?
Oh, the lawyers have their excuses.
The high priests in black robes claim to have sympathy but say their hands are tied.
This is all happening because one obviously estranged husband is on a determined course to exterminate his wife with extreme prejudice.
Her friends can do nothing to stop the killing. Her loving family is doing everything in its power to stop it. Millions of Americans are left hopeless, helpless, by government machinations.
It's a crime. It's a sin. It's a grievous injustice that is bringing shame upon our country.
Enough is enough.
I know I speak for the vast majority of Americans when I say: Feed Terri Schiavo. Give her life-sustaining water. There is no excuse for this barbaric torture under the color of the law. This is an issue of basic morality. Let Terri live.
Americans do not want to be complicit in this murder.
I refuse to be silent.
I call on Gov. Jeb Bush to use his executive powers to stop this slow, torturous death. I call on President George W. Bush to use his executive powers to intervene for this U.S. citizen. I call on the Florida Legislature to rewrite its laws right now to prevent this atrocity against a fellow member of the human race. I call upon the Congress of the United States to make it explicitly clear to the authorities in Florida that the cold-blooded killing of Terri Schiavo will not be tolerated. I call on the U.S. Supreme Court to step in and protect the constitutional rights of this American.
America will be forever changed if Terri Schiavo is allowed to die.
There is no reason to believe this is her wish.
There is only the flimsiest of circumstantial evidence to believe that. And there is overwhelming evidence to the contrary evidence never heard before by any judge. Motives are material in criminal trials. They should be examined in this civil case.
Why the rush to kill Terri Schiavo?
Why not re-examine the evidence?
Why not rewrite the laws if necessary?
The people of this country are crying out for justice. They are crying out for morality. Terri's plight is on the mind of every American today.
And let me add one more thing to my plea today one more message to all Americans and people around the world watching this case.
There is something each of us can do.
And I believe it will have impact.
When you read these words today, take one minute of quiet time to pray for Terri Schiavo, to pray for our country, to pray for God's providence to be done.
I believe that is every bit as important to the appropriate disposition of this issue as anything that can be done by the courts, by elected officials, by the attorneys and by the activists on both sides of this life-and-death case.
Heavenly Father, have mercy on Terri Schiavo. Have mercy on this country. Your will be done.
Amen.
My prayers continue for Terri and the family that worries about her.
Salvation - thank you for the ping.
Blessings,
trussell
If you want on/off my prayer ping list, please let me know. All requests happily honored.
The article outlined the tragic and cruel judicial ruling that is causing Terri Schiavo to starve to death. The article then asked for help from the Supreme Court and from God Almighty. I see nothing that indicates that Joe Farah is yelling or writing the epitath for America's grave; all I see him doing is spelling out the problem and trying to forth a solution.
Doesn't matter where we pray, just so long as we pray. I trust that people all over this nation are praying for Terri in churches, their homes, their automobiles, wherever they may be.
Thank you for going to the Supreme Court and praying.
Please convey my thanks to your sons as well.
I'm sure that all of the folks here in Pinellas Park would thank you too if they had the chance.
Your screen name is particularly fitting tonight, my friend...
Prayers up.
Tonight, several fine Christian men made the choice to cross the line onto Auschwitz 'Hospice' property with water for Terri.
One of them is an Army medic just returned from serving our country in Iraq.
I delivered a loud message directly to the officers making the arrests that they were violating their oaths to protect innocent human life. They all definitely heard me, and I saw a change in their demeanor after that. They know they are acting as armed guards for a murder. Frankly, I hope they can't sleep tonight, and for many nights in the future.
I've always been a respecter and a great supporter of LE, but in this case, I have absolutely no respect for these men who have allowed themselves to be put in a moral position no different in the least from Nazi concentration camp guards.
I have wondered how the doctors, nurses, guards, etc. can "do their jobs" in a situation such as this. Their jobs are to protect innocent human life, but in fact they are doing the exact opposite. I've wondered why they don't do the right thing and refuse to be a part of it. The guilt will haunt them forever.
Three nurses have walked over this. I got to talk to Carla last night.
She took care of Terri for some time. She told me that Terri smiled when she came into the room, laughed at her jokes, ate jello, etc.
This was the lady who made a police report, which was ignored, alleging that Michael injected Terri with insulin.
My family joins you in prayer and fasting.
It's amazing that there seems to be no lack of "conscientious" objectors to defending our country, but there isn't one objector among the police/hospice staff to putting this woman to death against all standards of decency.
"Our hands are washed." said Pilate, after a perfunctory hearing.
We have a new law on the books, and it's being ignored. We have a governor with powers, among them the power to appoint a special prosecutor, which he has not done. We have congressmen who can issue subpoenas, but these are ignored.
Yes, I would say the system is broken.
I can't believe how many doctors and nurses I have heard over the past few days calling up the talk shows saying they support killing Terri.
Thanks for the info, EV. These are good people. I heard Carla's statements on the radio. She was also on Michael Savage's show today (Wednesday) and spent 10-15 minutes sharing with him and his audience. She's a brave woman. I pray for her safety...
uhh...no......there is no *written* statement by the wife, therefore, the state does NOT KNOW what Terri wanted......it is testimony from a "spouse" who is technically married to another woman and should at least be prosecuted as a bigamist. There is no way he should now be "legally" her guardian--that is the insane part. Once he fathered a child and started living with another woman, his marriage should have ended and the parents should have been given the guardianship.Michael has many motives to kill Terri.
Again, there are three nurse 'conscientous objectors'.
The hospice even tried to force everyone on the staff to sign a 'petition' blasting President Bush and backing Michael Schiavo.
Betcha they are probably all "pro-choice"...
Yeah, I know about those three, I meant among those carrying this out right now in front of the eyes of the nation.
The entire world is watching this entire drama unfold right before their eyes and many are absolutely horrified and chilled beyond belief at what they see.
When a great nation such as ours starts to dehumanize individuals in the way that Terri is being dehumanized in an organized effort to rationalize the killing off of those members of our society who are sick, disabled, no longer productive, "have worthless lives or lives not worth living" or "wish to die".
It is a sad day a very dark day in history.
The World's Superpower and Champion of Human Rights around the globe is starving and dehydrating a disabled woman to death and underage children who bring her water are being handcuffed and arrested.
Does that sum it up? Did I miss anything?
If China decides to put a bullet in the brain of all their retarded school children tomorrow, what can we say or do?
Next time we want to whine because Libya or Egypt is on the United Nations human rights council we better learn to bite our lip.
There is your perspective from overseas.
The parents decide on their brain dead child because they are his / her guardians....well, they are guardians as long as they haven't abused the child. Otherwise they simply lose custody. That's the law. Also for adults.
