let's get real here. National Guardsmen are not going to storm the hospice and shoot all the police there (if that's what it took) to take her into custody in defiance of a court order.

If the force of government will not be used to stop the deliberate starvation of a disabled woman, then I deny it has any use -- or legitimacy -- whatsoever.

the judiciary is part of the government too. don't get me wrong, I think the judiciary has poorly served this woman, all the way up and down the line. in a sane world, it would never have gotten this far - an honest review of the evidence would have stripped her husband of guardianship and given it to the parents. But it didn't happen, and for the judiciary now, this case has become about retaining their imperial power - its no longer about the merits of the case itself or what happens to this woman.

but is this the case to force a constitutional crisis on? I don't think so.
