Jeb Bush Renews Call to Help schiavo

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) - Their options dwindling after two failed federal court appeals, Terri Schiavo's parents and brother vowed Wednesday to take their fight to the U.S. Supreme Court and state Legislature as the brain-damaged woman was in her fifth day without a feeding tube.

Gov. Jeb Bush renewed his call for the Legislature to step in and ``spare Terri's life.''

In a 2-1 ruling early Wednesday, a panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta said the parents, who have battled with son-in-law Michael Schiavo for years over the woman's fate, ``failed to demonstrate a substantial case on the merits of any of their claims'' that the feeding tube should be reinserted immediately.

``There is no denying the absolute tragedy that has befallen Mrs. Schiavo,'' the ruling by Judges Ed Carnes and Frank M. Hull said. ``We all have our own family, our own loved ones, and our own children. However, we are called upon to make a collective, objective decision concerning a question of law.''

Morality takes precedence to legalisms.

Sounds like Liberals to me... When they see something as 'moral' they have no compunction with breaking the law...

God's going to kill her or not as He pleases. Aren't you religious and don't you want her to be happy in heaven with Jesus?

Spoken like someone truly ignorant of Christianity.

Sure, why don't we kill ALL the Christians and save them the hardship of life in general. Surely heaven is much better than life here!

Waiting on the USSC would make either Bush less likely to intervene, it seems to me. I never thought they would intervene: fear of the unknown.

That's because they have no absolute standard.

They needed better lawyers if you ask me -- ones that could have gotten the publicity out about what Greer was ignoring. It shouldn't be that way but it is.

Two and two just do not add up -- don't ask me why I say that but it is like a big part of the puzzle is missing. I can feel it. Too many dollars paid to lawyers and it seems to me that the scumbag's lawyers had all the ammo and hearsay to get it into Court. Why couldn't these affidavits get admitted?

Ditto, that.

The Schindler lawyers seem to be pretty inept.

Jeb's failure to act will be his undoing for any future political races.

Also, in the case of a murder investigation, the Attorney General of Florida, I would... imagine... be able to take action, to preserve the life and potential testimony of the victim/witness.

No one has been murdered.... yet.

I stand by my principle of being for states rights. Whether that involves Elian or Terri.

You may not like that stand and that is fine. But I don't change just because it suits my feelings on this issue.

I am against the Federal Gov. getting involved in issues that should be left up to a state.

However, I believe it is the Florida Legislature who should step in to save Terri. I can tell you that this would NOT be allowed to happen in Oklahoma. Hopefully the people of Florida will vote those out who do not act to save Terri.

Have you read the opinion from the 11th 3 judges? I'm legalese ignorant, but the 1 (Bless him) dissenting judge was saying that the law congress passed had to be presumed constitutional and therefore, the district judge erred in not following it. The other 2 looked at the Greer decisions and found he did everything right. But the congress law said all the state stuff was not to be considered.

Anyway, Terri just needs 5 more judges from the 11th to vote for life....praying

Greer must have ignored those statements, too.

EVERYONE should read the Melton Audit of Judge Greer:

True, but do WE, as supporters of a nation of laws, want to follow that same path? Do we want to open up that can of worms?

But what is worse is that no male in her family has even been arrested for trying to save her life.

That has stupefied me as well.

It's time to get out from in front of the cameras and save your sister!

EVERYONE should read the Melton Audit of Judge Greer:

More on Sheriff Rice and Judge Greer..... Rice was sheriff of Pinellas County at the time and despite repeated complaints of abuse allegations in the Schiavo case, including recent incidents of alleged abuse by Michael Schiavo towards his incapacitated wife, Rice has steadfastly refused to investigate them.

RUSH just asked a great question!

HOW MANY OF YOU want Terri to die just because some Christian Conservatives want her to live?
