Jeb Bush Renews Call to Help schiavo

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (AP) - Their options dwindling after two failed federal court appeals, Terri Schiavo's parents and brother vowed Wednesday to take their fight to the U.S. Supreme Court and state Legislature as the brain-damaged woman was in her fifth day without a feeding tube.

Gov. Jeb Bush renewed his call for the Legislature to step in and ``spare Terri's life.''

In a 2-1 ruling early Wednesday, a panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta said the parents, who have battled with son-in-law Michael Schiavo for years over the woman's fate, ``failed to demonstrate a substantial case on the merits of any of their claims'' that the feeding tube should be reinserted immediately.

``There is no denying the absolute tragedy that has befallen Mrs. Schiavo,'' the ruling by Judges Ed Carnes and Frank M. Hull said. ``We all have our own family, our own loved ones, and our own children. However, we are called upon to make a collective, objective decision concerning a question of law.''

Of course Jeb Bush can do it. He should have done it long ago. Is he waiting for her to die so he wouldn't need to do anything? I hope not. Terri might just become his Mary Jo.

Unfortunately I am beginning to think that is the case.
It occurs to me that, while the courts may have ruled that her feeding tube be removed, I don't believe that the ruling included denying Terri access to food and water. I have seen news reports that several people attempting to provide Terri such access have been prevented from doing so. There seems to be evidence that noone at the Hospice is providing such access since she is reported to be dehydrated and starving, and since they are pressing charges for trespassing against those who try to provide Terri access to food and/or water. So, someone should really step in and ensure that proper access to food and water is being provided. I believe it would be within the Gov's power to instruct that such action should be taken.

Actually, the popular MRS has said that he will dump poor Terri's ashes in PA, not FL.

You're missing the point that there was no plug to pull, just her food and water to take away. How about if you give up your right to food and water in support of your pro-life views. What a pathetic statement, know the facts before you speak. You don't keep someone alive for eight years and then decide that it doesn't fit in your schedule anymore. Michael Schiavo should be put in prison if she dies. God be with you Terri and the Schindler family.

My family (four individual families) have made the decision that we can no longer visit or vacation in your state if Terri dies because the Judicial System

Not only that, but many people (including my family) will send no more money down the GOP toilet.

From what I've read, the Schindlers long ago reported that the caregivers had stated that Michael not only withheld rehabilitation, but would whisper mean things to Terri when he thought no one could hear. Greer must have ignored those statements, too.

Agreed. I support life, too, but these calls for the state and federal executive branches to break the law

Morality takes precedence to legalisms. It is moral to save this woman's like from her evil husband.

Where are the co called "FReepers" who call for Terri's death?

Why don't they join the co called
"right wing media personalities"
who say Terri is brain dead.

IF she's "dead" like they claim then why the rush to see her die?

Why not just let her parents continue their care?

or

WHY DON'T YOU DEMAND THAT TERRI BE GIVEN LETHAL INJECTION RIGHT NOW!

YOU SICK SOB'S WANT HER TO DIE SLOWLY WHILE YOU "CELEBRATE" YOUR "VICTORY"

Hell has a special place for "people" like you!

Posting HTML:
You called??? Sounds like you feel like lashing out? Fine...you requested the following from me:

Terri is brain dead.

She has been in this state far too long.

It's her husband's call...I believe she wouldn't want to "live" like this.

Gee...I'm not sure about the lethal injection thing, nice of you to offer...but since they have waited this long to pull the tubes, a few more days won't make much of a difference.

I had no idea that I was going to hell for wanting a long suffering soul to meet their maker. I just must not have the higher level contacts that you do.

It's a federal matter because of the 14th Amendment, as I see it.

See, here's where I disagree with your point.

'don't allow emotions'
IN otherwords, forget compassion, mercy, common sense, conscious, having a soul, the human factors involved in a human life or death struggle,,,just worry about being 'correct' and following the 'letter of the law.'

Well, it seems you advocate a society that is souless and cold, callous and cruel,,but HEY,,IT'S LEGAL! I guess that is ALL that matters, right?

I didn't even use the word MORAL yet,,,that makes the legally correct 'people' shudder.....oooyh,,,,can't have emotion...have to be CORRECT,,being CORRECT is more important than being human to some apparently......

I am completely against the Federal Government getting involved in this matter. It is a state issue.

It IS constitutional to intervene.

But regardless, the libs and the Repubs (complicitly) allowed the Federal government to involve themselves in Elian's family, and they will continue to inject themselves wherever it advances the agenda of death and liberalism. If those with MORALS refuse to act, be it using the Feds or whoever, those without will STILL abuse their powers and we will be left powerless. Your argument holds about as much water as gun control lefties'arguments against guns.

My only tiny hope is if the 11th doesn't come through and the Supremes turn them down, then Jeb will know all court stuff is over and then he can act.

tiny, tiny hope

Forward to Jeb Bush
Dear Gov Bush:
Time to press the undo button. The legal system is broke. The train is on the wrong track. Save Michael Schiavo from potential prosecution for murder. If Terri dies this week the judicial errors can't be fixed.

Thanks -- the reason I asked is that they are all over the news now -- don't you think that her lawyers have not done a very good job?

"Au contraire, God's going to kill her or not as He pleases. Aren't you religious and don't you want her to be happy in heaven with Jesus?"

Trolling, again? I told you the other day that God expects Christians to defend the helpless, not kill them. You need to take your one trick pony act on the road. It's a hoot.

That's about right. A gunshot to the head is more humane than what they're doing to Terri.

It began with the President. Why isn't the Justice Department leading the way in the federal courts about this? Why leave it up to the Schindlers?

Also, in the case of a murder investigation, the Attorney General of Florida, I would... imagine... be able to take action, to preserve the life and potential testimony of the victim/witness.

The rule when necessary is: Take action first, when necessary, in order to grant the courts time to apply themselves.

That principle is called "probable cause."

We can all do what is needed.

Terri needs water.

Who is going to take it to her?

An American Expat in Southeast Asia
